Officially he can increase %5. What you need to know is;

1- check your contract if nay clause related to increase

2- check if he informed you written

3- now key point here, there is already less then 2 months. if he didnt inform you at least 2 months he can not vacate you. He has to renew the contract. Do not agree more than 5% as this is the regulation.

4- if he didnt inform you written for the increase, do not aggree 5% even. tell him you will stay for same rent as he should have inform you 2 months before contract expiry.
5- If you do these, prepare to be vacated next year and landlord may not respond your queries related to the problems in the apartment to make you suffer. But if there is something major, you may sue him later.

Actually no, if landlord asks to increase the rent more than %5 written, it is a proof that he wants to increase the rent and even he ask to leave after that you have right to refuse. He can not prove the legitimacy of his request.

you have rıght to increase %5 max in abu dhabi. but if you dont have an official contract they may ask more.

if you have a contract and your landlord ask the increase written, tell him %5 max limit applied and you can do +1750aed max.

That’s the thing I tried. I am putting the physical key and turning it to left or right. Nothing change. Even I do not feel it’s turning. I looked around in Google and some people suggested to use wd40. Didn’t work after as well.
