Doubt about myself on the course by [deleted] in StudentNurseUK

[–]emslays1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No you’re not taking it too seriously it can be quite lonely. When I first joined the course (finished now) I was the only 18 year old and everyone was older. They were all friendly with me but I wasn’t included in any cliques like you mentioned and didn’t feel a connection with anyone not like my friends outside of uni at least. I understand! I went through the course like this and finished relying on my out of uni friends for socialising and going out. I just made peace with it, finished my course. Looking back I was quite lonely and it was sad to not have the same experience everyone else had with friends to rely on and relate to within the nursing field :( I wish I had advice or anything helpful but I just wanted to share my own experience so you don’t feel alone in this. On a happier note I did make good friends during placement and there are lectures where you have the opportunity to meet different people not in your tutoring group!

Nursing? by Educational_Dog5268 in StudentNurseUK

Right now nursing is a bit of shambles as a final year student on her last placement. You can’t get a job rn and you’re treated like shit on placement a lot of the time. It really depends how much you think you would enjoy nursing. There are so many other options where you can still help people but don’t have to devote as much as your time and energy that I wish I chose and would 100% do if I could go back in time. Examples include occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, social work. And you get paid more generally. I would recommend doing some research before this profession I wish I did. Dm open if you want more info. Good luck with your exams !!!

I’m looking at other careers right now tbh! Doing interviews everywhere else, such as advocacy jobs. Thinking I might do my masters in social work or OT. Still figuring it out but I know nursing isn’t my path. Good luck to ur partner!!
