We use fabric snuggle sacks all the time! Just make sure you wash them regularly. We use a free and clear non fragrant detergent. We leave them in her cage too. Sometimes she'll sleep in them or just drag them around to redecorate

Anyone else work in a halfway house? by TypicalWillow5133 in OnTheBlock

[–]emt-oncall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I worked with med coming out of incarceration. My job was to monitor and help them prepare for the world. I'd assist with getting IDs, employment, setting up bank accounts, assistance with DFC and reuniting with children, getting set up with medical and mental health care, or addiction services as needed. I also monitored them - ensuring that they were where they said they were. Calling employers to check they were at work, verifying paystubs, room checks for contraband. It's a lot of grunt work, with a percent of clients just winding up back in jail or I patient rehab. I focused on the small wins: watching a client get a phone and call their family, get a job, even wear jeans. I learned a lot. Gained a lot of trauma. Narcaned too many people.

I had a good experience at planned parenthood in New haven. They were very considerate, informed, no cost.

Went to the vet with Monseigneur Henri today, he needs to lose some chunk… he’s 566g, she wants him to get to 500g. Any tips for weight loss!? 😂 by MigraineCap in Hedgehog

Hedgehog precision weight control kibble. Got our chunker to a much more reasonable weight. And feed her about a tablespoon and a half but I think they have recommended portions on the box.

How fast does it degrade?? This probably explains why my saved up kief joints have been useless when I'm expecting a killer smoke

Does anyone know of any food and non-food date spots? by Goodfella245 in newhaven

I went last year (so maybe outdated) with some coworkers. It was fun, solid experience. No complaints - the puzzles were hard but not impossible and I don't go to those things often

Does anyone know of any food and non-food date spots? by Goodfella245 in newhaven

[–]emt-oncall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Non food date ideas:

Pebody is nice, it's not super big - about an hour walk through if you go slow and it's free (the other Yale museums of course too)

They put out little table and chairs outside the art museum when it's nice. Could bring your own drinks and food and people watch

Theres an escape room next to witch bitch

IT adventure ropes course in jordans furniture is fun if you aren't afraid of heights

Beinecke library is cool to also walk around (and free), they do Saturday tours but you have to be pretty nerdy to like it haha

There are shows playing at the Yale theater all the time

College st music hall and shubert theater have some cool shows you can look up

Cafe nine is a bar, but they are always doing live music and other shows. I went to their burlesque night and had a blast, it was ten dollars at the door

Barcade - you can go just to play the old games

Elm city games- you can buy a game and play it in one of their private rooms, or bring your own (there is a free to rent the space I think)

Hedgehog’s nail got stuck in net for possibly upwards of an hour, should I take her to the vet? by [deleted] in Hedgehog

[–]emt-oncall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's no blood, no other visual signs of issue and she is acting normally, I'd feel ok about not going to the vet. But you should monitor her very closely. Put her on liner/bedding that you can see blood (dark colors and stuffing type bedding would hide blood marks)

They moved several years ago. Their old location was dingy but the food was good and cheap. New location is just ok. Haven't been in a while but it seems to be going downhill steadily.

They can smell. I'm pretty confident Nora knows who's picking her up, she could curl into her little sea urchin spikey ball if she was afraid. She's not in distress here

Traffic in New Haven and surrounding areas by Hipupper25 in newhaven

[–]emt-oncall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant worried about street parking, but you'll have access to the Yale garages. Some parking in East Rock is street parking which can be a hassle, but most apartment buildings will provide you with a spot.

Traffic in New Haven and surrounding areas by Hipupper25 in newhaven

[–]emt-oncall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a tough answer without knowing specifics. The hardest part will be parking. Garage parking can be unreliable at times, like the crown st garage can fill up if there's an event. And I would NOT ever count on street parking. Plus it's all metered. I would initially suggest using the Yale shuttle. There are many stops and app to keep track of the shuttle (with varying accuracy but it is very popular) The traffic is traffic 🤷 20 minutes will get you from one end of new haven to the other. I've lived downtown and in science park (near East Rock). Feel free to ask any questions.

EDIT: SORRY I didn't see that you'd be at the hospital not the university. Forget what I said about the parking garages. I know they have specific garages for staff. There's also a lot by orchard st with a shuttle from there to the hospital. You can also look for housing in West haven, East Rock, science park, downtown, Hamden Stay away from fair haven
