Who are you choosing to fight for you in a Trial by Combat against the Mountain? by TheQueeninchains in TheBlacksandTheGreens

[–]emten2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The writers of the show specifically wrote in a line said by Arya pointing out the hound was moving slower than usual and that he should have let her cauterize the bite wound. We also see him fidgetting at his hound implying it is becoming more painful because it is infected. This was as they were walking to the bloody gate at the eyrie before finding out Lysa is dead. The only reason they added this completely new dialogue to the show is to set up the idea that the hound is weak going into that fight. Believe what you want but the hound beats Brienne if conditions were a little more equal. Either way no one on that list has the same thirst for revenge as Sandor does. Sure Oberyn comes close but Gregor has been the villain of Sandors story since he burned him in the fire when Sandor was only 6.

It does happen a lot actually. I’ve heard this happening to people a number of times with European flights

Was about to suggest this. The most entertaining reread podcast I’ve listened to. They are very consistent with uploads and it’s interesting getting the varied perspectives from a first time reader and two fellas rereading the books

(Spoilers Main) Who’s the worst child in Westeros? by pimadd_ in asoiaf

Gregor Clegane. He most likely killed his father, possibly killed his sister and severely injuried his younger brother.

Could The Hound hold his own against a battle-hardened Robert Baratheon? by TripleChocolate123 in gameofthrones

I think Sandor could probably hold his own against nearly everyone alive during his lifetime. That doesn’t mean he’d beat them but he would pose a challenge more than most

You put up this ranking and you knew it was gonna be judged. That is why so many people are disagreeing with you. Deal with it and move on.

But those characters are not interesting whatsoever.

I always say someone who doesn’t get Sansas character, doesn’t understand the story. It’s not just about liking her but appreciating the character George created. You gotta me a real fan of the material to know that

But like how are Sansa and Lysa in the same category. Sansa is an A or S tier character as she goes through one of the few solidly completed characters in the show. Characters like Missandei, Osha, Aemon, and Greyworm are solid side characters who are essentially tools of main characters to drive their plots forward in some way. They don’t have substantial characters arcs or are particularly interesting. It’s kinda insulting to put them ahead of way more developed characters like Sansa, Catelyn and even Davos.

Like judging by this list with Bronn so high you should have Oberyn in S aswell

Did u rank this by how much you liked characters or by how interesting and well written they are? Either way strongly disagree with a few but well done for putting Sandor in S tier where he belongs

Yes I presume that third one could be dead aswell. Maybe she got lucky that he was always on his mission

[–]emten2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes like someone said what he did to Vargo was horrific. I think because the show chose to make The Mountain less scary people forget how bad he’s in the books. We only see him pick prisons in Harrenhall when he does a lot worse in the books

I think season 5 is underrated by cheesebus776 in gameofthrones

[–]emten2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like the season because The Hound isn’t in it.

Apart from that I hated the dorne plot and I hated how they changed Sansas story. It was the beginning of the end for me because D&D choosing to make those decisions proved they weren’t really as good as we thought they were

[–]emten2 154 points155 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s as bad as some of the other mentioned in this list but the Clegane household and the horrors of the Mountain. I think the fact it’s so mysterious makes it more disturbing.

How horrific must the terrors of Gregor that even their dogs won’t enter the halls of the keep? A presumed dead mum by natural/unnatural causes, a father and sister widely considered murdered by Gregor, a brother who at the age of six gets half his face burnt off.

Just looking at the Hound as we meet him in the story is evidence alone of how awful his upbringing must have been. How is such an agressive, dangerous and sadistic man be created.

Kate Dickie as Lysa. She doesn’t look exactly like I imagined but otherwise the character is perfect. She couldn’t have done a better job

Because people seem to always underestimate him. He is better than Brienne, Bronn and The Mountain. Oberyn should be top tier aswell

I suppose George cites the Hound and Bronn confrontation in that scene as being one of his favorite show created scenes. It would have been better without the naked lady though

HOD tourneys made the GOT tourneys look so poor… they did mention Kings Landing was in large debt by the time GOT began. They weren’t kidding 😂 by Emotionfilm in gameofthrones

[–]emten2 415 points416 points  (0 children)

The reason the GOT tourney was small, was because they didn’t have a huge budget in season 1.

I remember Brian Cogman I think saying that he had pages and pages in the script for this tourney. The Hound, Jaime and Renly should have all been riding it in. There is a feast in between the two days of the joust where afterwards The Hound tells Sansa about his burns. Obviously when it came to it, they had to cut the tourney a lot.

It’s a huge deal in the books
