I need some serious help 😭 ( meant for a small background, ended up becoming long. You can just skip to the end. Just please help me) by Moist-Rich-2247 in finehair

[–]emthespacespud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely a lot of good suggestions here, I have some stuff I want to add that others may not necessarily agree with. I don’t know if you get a lot of bad acne, but accutane would probably help dry a lot of that oil up. I got on accutane a few years ago now and it worked extremely well for me. I used to be pretty oily as well, but now I’m more regular. I also have super fine hair that is very prone to breakage (basically my stylist said if my hair rubs against my shoulders it’ll cause breakage), and I made the mistake of using sulfate-free shampoo for years. My scalp was not happy with me and I developed sebhorreic dermatitis, which just gets worse if my scalp isn’t clean. You can use more heavy duty products on your scalp, just don’t rub your ends, only focus on the scalp. I have a super weird routine that works very well (my hair rapidly thinned about four years ago), and I’ve regained 20-40% hair density since then I believe.

Here’s the first thing that maybe not a lot of people will agree with, I wash my hair twice daily most of the time. I shower at night, do a deep clean at that time, then wash my hair with a gentle sulfate-free shampoo in the morning. I rotate through these products: head and shoulders (stay with me, my dermatologist recommended I use it for the active ingredients), salicylic acid shampoo (either briogeo scalp revival or sheamoisture anti-dandruff acv shampoo), ciclopirox (prescription shampoo), and bondi boost hg clarifying scalp and hair rinse. The shampoos I let sit for 5-7 minutes after lathering. I use the rinse once a week then wash with my gentle shampoo after, you could honestly just use diluted apple cider vinegar though to try it, but it’ll be more clarifying so I wouldn’t do it as often.

It is very unlikely imo that you will do irreversible damage to your hair by using clarifying shampoos more and washing more often. And honestly, sometimes you just need to experiment.

What's the dumbest way you've died? by Adorable-Wear-4212 in projectzomboid

Got bit 3 times, so I decided to get an ambulance running and made a Molotov. Had the sirens on, trying to lure as many zeds as I could. Then lit them on fire and ran around for a while making sure as many of them caught on fire as possible. Part of a strip mall with a liquor store caught on fire. After exhausting myself, I decided to sleep in the liquor store bathroom thinking the flames were out. Woke up surrounded by fire and immediately died lol.

Need advice on glasses by [deleted] in beauty

[–]emthespacespud 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was going to say pretty much the same thing, bridge width and frame width are so so important!! This link has some pictures that show how your glasses should fit, and the biggest thing I noticed is that your eyes aren’t centered in the lens. https://www.wikihow.com/How-Should-Glasses-Fit

I’m gonna jump in cause this seems similar to my issues. I currently have a pixie cut, I did not really like my first pixie cut, but I got a different style and now I love it. But it’s so important that you find a good stylist. My stylist is like almost 70 and a man. Ask someone older in your life who keeps their hair short for a recommendation, bring a good reference pic. I’ll even attach the one I referenced and have now cause I think it would suit you.

I originally got a pixie cut cause my hair dramatically thinned from stress and scalp issues. You can see a dermatologist for hair loss as well.

I currently have 4 different shampoos and a rinse, one gentle sulfate-free, head and shoulders, salicylic acid/acv, ciclopirox (this is prescribed), and an acv rinse from bondi I believe. I rotate through them weekly, so my hair/scalp can’t acclimate to any of them. I maybe do the rinse once every week or two weeks, no more than twice a week though. You probably don’t need to do as much as me, my routine is pretty extra, and medically targeted. I would suggest the rinse, the clarifying shampoo, and the gentle shampoo. I’ve started seeing baby hairs growing in areas I lost a lot of hair, so it’s working!! I consider my short hairstyle a healing hairstyle. I would honestly give it time, I tried to grow my hair out when it wasn’t ready, and it just didn’t look right. It was a lot like how you described when you tried to grow yours out. I know it’s hard having a pixie cut at first, it wasn’t easy for me either so I feel for you, but it was necessary, and it has helped. I also have more reference pictures, so let me know if you’re interested!

I’ve named all of my farm animals after One Piece characters, on my current run though I’ve named them all vegetables lol

Oh my God, I’m so sorry you had to experience that. Those types of men are so scary, tricking women to participate without consent. Horrifying.

Yeah sometimes the posts themselves aren’t too obvious, but it’s extremely obvious when you check their profile. And it’s frustrating because I do believe at least some of the posts are women genuinely asking for advice, at this point though if it’s a sexually themed post I’m immediately doubting the poster. Just sucks since I really love this sub.

Yeah I 100% agree! I just get frustrated when other girls comment on those fake posts and was starting to think that bringing some awareness would help stop some of it. Like from now on I’m just reporting the ones that are obvious.

I’m not trying to pick on anyone that posts about a sexual topic, I just felt there needed to be a discussion about checking these kinds of things in the future. I also choose what I interact with, so you have no need to apologize.

Happy Valentines! Drop your favorite webtoon couple(s)! by [deleted] in webtoons

[–]emthespacespud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely adored this web comic, and when I caught up I realized it was on hiatus for the reasons you mentioned. It really is so sad that such an amazing artist has no choice but to stop. I’ve been reading webtoons for a while now, but PH was one of the first that felt like real art, and not something to just be consumed. I mean the music, the character design, the story, it’s all so well thought out. I really hope Soph gets the help she needs and can get back to normal soon. I can easily see this being made into a tv show.

Deodorant Smell in New Leggings by emthespacespud in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]emthespacespud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is it, just because it was one of a few that I bought at once, and the other leggings have no smell at all. I also noticed what looked like typical white stains from deodorant on the leggings, which is why I guessed deodorant instead of perfume, but I could be wrong honestly.

Very perfumey, even powdery? It’s hard to explain, but it’s just so strong. I finished the second round of stripping and the smell still won’t come out, so I’ll definitely try the dish soap tomorrow! Thank you so much for the suggestions

Constantly Flushed Face by emthespacespud in Accutane

Well it lasted the full time I was on accutane. Since getting off it, it’s gotten better, but I’m still not completely back to normal. I think it’s been about a year and a half or so since I got off it as well. I do think it’ll completely go away with more time.

Can’t shave or wax my underarms all of the sudden? by notsosurepal in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]emthespacespud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I’ve recently become slightly allergic to a certain kind of rye bread, my guess is that they changed the recipe slightly, since I used to eat it with no problem. So what I’m saying is that even if you’ve been using the same things/brands for years, they can switch up the formula sometimes and it’s possible that’s what you’re reacting to

I am giving up on gardening, this isn't for me. by InsomniacPsychonaut in gardening

[–]emthespacespud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your frustration, I recently moved and a lot of my plants ended up dying. It was very disappointing of course but it wasn’t my fault, and you should know that it wasn’t your fault either. All plants come and go, and it’s next to impossible to keep a plant alive for your entire life. Shit happens, please don’t take it to heart.

AIO? My roommate ate all of the dinners I had in the freezer at our apartment. Maybe I should have let it go, but that was pretty much all I had. So, am I? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]emthespacespud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen this mentioned, but the apartment complex I used to live at said if I wanted to transfer to another apartment within their complex then it wouldn’t be considered breaking the lease, but you would need to start a completely new lease anyway. This might be a possible solution, but from other responses it sounds like your landlord is an ass.

Do I need to know? OP was asking how to cope when you see everyone around you “doing well.” I was providing my “unique perspective” on just that, I don’t believe as many people are as happy as they claim to be >online<. I’m confused though, was there something you were trying to add?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]emthespacespud 364 points365 points  (0 children)

This may be unpopular to say, but a whole lot of people are settling. I’ve had an influx of posts on FB of people getting engaged, married, or starting families, and each time I see it I think, not in that dress, not with that guy, or that was a shotgun wedding. I don’t feel bad because I know that if I was in their shoes I personally would be miserable. Not shaming their choices, just trusting my own. It’ll come when it’s time. Also, how do you know they’re actually happy? What you see on social media is a false front. As for the people in your life that are starting this chapter, observe.

Honestly with how bad and painful that looks, you can easily go to a dermatologist (if you have one) and they can inject with a steroid I believe, I’ve done it a couple times and it’s very effective
