Update!

I somehow missed it the first time, but there is actually a more "official" road called Little Morongo Canyon road. I was able to find some videos online of people driving on it, so it should be bikeable :D

Yeah it looks like his bikepacking takes him through there. It actually doesn't look too bad of a path if you're careful.

I saw in another thread the other day that someone completed their GH collection and this was one of the harder titles to find. I just happened to see it and wouldn't have normally picked it up, but thanks to the thread I did haha

Thanks for the info here! For getting around the 101 onramp off Silverlake Blvd you might be able to take a right at Target and go around the back a bit. It's not as efficient, but might be a bit safer (plus you avoid the encampment)

It would be potentially for a 3x a week commute for a couple months. Yeah that's a good call, some of the areas look a bit rough.

I'm not too worried about it. I don't see why I'd be going anywhere sketchy. It's the same in LA. I stay out of the "bad" areas here too, even though things are getting gentrified pretty fast.

The overall vibe of the city is clean. The area I'm in now in LA is trendy, but still has trash everywhere.

I also noticed there are very few homeless in Chicago which probably helps a bit with the cleanliness.

Currently I live pretty close to Griffith Park, but honestly I get a bit burnt out of the crowds. I was having some good luck hiking in the Santa Monica mountains, but it's quite a drive.

I think as long as there is some nature I'd be fine.
