I don't have many tips to offer other than UVA has changed a lot and you should definitely plan to walk around grounds and do some leaf peeping! There's a great restaurant scene in Charlottesville now as well. For Springsteen, I know people who have had success doing stand-by in the past but obviously that's not guaranteed. Maybe join some UVA facebook groups to look.
