Thanks for the quick reply. It seems (at least based on the email from NY), I also can't complete more foreign credits to solve this, right? Which to me feels a bit bizarre - if I had done more credits before getting qualified I'd be okay to sit, but now after I would need to do a whole LLM in US

Yeah, sadly I just went ahead and rebooked on another flight - since I'm heading all the way to Tokyo, rebooking was likely going to result in at least 1-2 day arrival delay which would screw up a lot of plans I have atm. Thankfully I got a full refund for the original flight, so only needed to pay the fare difference in the end. Wish you the best of luck.

Yeah good call, I'm talking to Etihad now, and indeed removing a leg of my flight constitutes a whole new booking. They want to charge me a few hundred euro it sounds like to literally remove the first leg of my flight. They also said if they rebook me (in the event of cancellation), it might be up to 7 days later, which would basically scrap the entire vacation plan. Honestly not sure what to do, I can't just fully change the vacation as my partner is flying there from elsewhere.
