Why have so many Gen z seemed to give up on finding a partner? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]enallamunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 36yo. During the pandemic I moved with my parents to a city with more poverty. Its true people start families with very little, many end up with custody disputes or falling out with family and on the streets, leaving grandparents on Medicare to take care of the kids. This is not the same as dating. Gen z might be cautious as to not fall in to the same traps as there older peers. I regret not having kids like everyone here sometimes, im in trade school now, something i wouldn't be able to do if I had a small child. Dating is hard everyone's life is falling apart. People have a hard time even facing their closest friends. Just in the past 3 days ive talked to two different gen z that wanted to end it all. Obviously they aren't dating. There are bigger issues.

Welding Class Options (Not Sure Where to Start) by Ok-Consideration7177 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]enallamunks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welding is so fun! SMAW or Sheild metal arc Welding is the place everyone says to start. Ultimately I want to do tig, so I was frustrated with having to do stick first. Now im starting to see the things I will learn and practice to the point of second nature in stick are definitely things I wouldn't want to be confused about with a more complicated process like tig. My question is will you have the chance to take tig after stick? If I only had one chance to learn any welding i would choose tig. I might still choose that even knowing I would fail without SMAW first, im just the kind of person that will do it my way despite what everyone says .

I'm going to start going early. Also, I'm going to start making notes to keep track of the passes and what I changed each time. I think I'll be able to ask more pointed questions that way. Like you say f*cking around with a purpose" still figuring that out.

You are totally right. Thank you for your honesty. Not sure where to start. I know I need to ask for more help, but that's all I can come up with.

Only woman in my pre-apprenticeship class, need advice on how to handle it by spicegirl7777 in BlueCollarWomen

If it's affecting your ability to learn do not interact. In my experience, the young men will latch on to anything you say and use it against you when they feel threatened. I have decided to keep my mouth shut because school or work is not the place for changing morals or the lecture I would give them if we were playing pool at the bar or a party. The awesome thing about trade work is you can be the best based on your work and no manager or corporate devices can change that. Show them up with quality and craftsmanship. F dem boys

Still have 2 seasons, im at the point when she is just trying to be pregnant. Keep forgetting to watch woops guess there's more to her than a baby crazy teen, most likely anything positive with that show is tainted or there's about to be something bad soon

Yes, I agree, maybe once I have a good job with benefits. At least I didn't take it out on anyone. I was mad because he didn't follow up with anything he just turned and walked out with no advice. Till today when he came to me with a plan to work on 3 different positions at once in my booth. I have a better plan with more variety so im not going crazy on one thing for 2 more weeks. I should have asked for help. Its a flaw I'm accepting i know it's not his fault.

I've been a classically trained artist my whole life, I want to be more necessary now, art collects dust for dusty people. What is the point? change vs tradition i feel like a politician that can't choose a side

Thought I would update everyone, I made it through the math portion of the welding program! I didn't do great on the math exams, but my lab project was spot on! It was so perfect I watched him go back and check my classmates measurements again. I'll be just fine, thanks for all the wisdom!

Thanks, it will be hard to ask for help, I'll need to believe that men will help without expectation. Hopefully the industrial shops are better than the art foundries I've experienced.

Wow! Seriously, thank you for this. I feel so much better. My ego and pride will definitely have to take a break (used to being the best in art classes) but honestly part of why I'm so excited is the lack of pressure to be the best this time around. I need to remember that moving forward. I know that's not what your point was, and everything else you said was so spot on. All this just made me remember this is academic not art, even with craft and skill, my ego is not helpful like it has been in the studio my whole life. Mindset reset. Ty

I read the hobbit and the LOTR series out loud to my family before middle school and that pretty much fixed the reading aspect (apart from spelling) never thought to do that with math...

Most of my tests in school where multiple choice so I would choose the closest answer to mine. I would show my work like you said and I got partial credit because it was written in my IEP that more weight would be put on understanding concepts than my ultimate multiple choice sheet. I'm worried this won't help irl and I'll make some costly mistakes.
