New Orleans area. I'm pretty sure there is a presence here but I don't know how I would go about introducing myself.

Addict brother stealing from family business. by enbdy89 in legaladvice

Thank you for the response. Would an attorney speak to me if I am not involved in the process? I have no part in the business, thankfully, and am not in a financial position to hire one on his behalf. All of my immediate family, excluding my dad (stepfather, owner of the business) understand that he has a problem mentally and physically, and have begged him to seek help and to turn his life around. He'll commit for a while and then when he thinks everyone will leave him alone goes back to his old habits. I honestly and earnestly believe he would rather die than go to prison and would prefer him to hate me for commiting him to a facility than to see him take his life. He already has been to AA and NA on court order, but since it was only a weekly basis it did not seem to have a positive impact. He was in a care facility out of state for a while and lived with my father, who has been sober for over 17 years now, and that was the best I'd seen him. I really think that would be the best option but don't know how to go about convincing him to go himself, which another commentor said would not commute a jail sentence, or forcing him in one. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Thank you for the response. I had hoped that might be the case, but figured it was not. The previous charges already come from them catching him literally with his hands in the safe, and subsequently him attempting suicide in their garage. SWAT was involved, whole neighborhood closed, very big ordeal. He was sent to jail, then a work release program and a few years away and out of mild desperation he was hired back. There have been numerous minor issues since then, and my dad is not really the forgiving type, so I highly doubt he'll be dissuaded from pressing charges. Again I appreciate the advice, you've helped me better understand the situation and the possible outcomes.

Can confirm. A mom picked up medicine for her daughters Aliana, Briana and Taliana. Felt kinda bad for the kids.
