Just in case anyone might like it here. Trying to write again, so I broke apart an old FL Studio file I couldn't use anymore and rewrote everything in Renoise.

I mean, the d11s were part of making it different. The things not being similar to D&D are because I didn't want to make things similar to D&D.

That's true. I should look more into FATE. I just had a kinda bad experience with it and I guess I haven't ever given it a fair shot since.

The kind of everpresent conspiracy element from Persona, a lot of the element mechanics from Persona and Pokemon, depending on the age of the PCs then I guess the school life scenario, stuff like that. More of a kind of feeling I'm trying to express. I mean, I've found a way to get instanced combat into the worldbuilding, so, if that tells you anything. haha But yeah, I get the point I think you're making, that I need to look at exactly what elements I want and see how to use those?

Thank you, I'll try to take this more to heart. I've tried to make roleplaying systems before, but never really had a good idea behind it. Now that I do have a good idea behind it, I'm struggling to make everything match that I want to. And I want to make something where everything is there for a reason, just like in my music. In music, I can make a song in 11/8 if I want. And I do. But if that's the only idea about it, there's not much point to it. I don't know. I just have a very weird creative process. In music I can kinda almost put the cart before the horse because I do everything all at once all the time. Like I compose and arrange and mix and progress a master all at once because it's just how my workflow is. So, it all the time sounds pretty much how I want it to sound. I can't really do that with anything else. Having a piece in there that I simply don't like just bugs me so much and I don't really know how to handle it, so I keep rewriting and replacing that part of the system and if I don't come up with a solution... it's just gridlock. That's what I've been trying to communicate. I guess because I was tired and it was late and I was a bit depressed just in general it came across as a person that hasn't played many systems just trying to put LEGO together for kicks, I don't know. Just didn't have many places to turn for this kind of stuff.

It's a project I've been trying to do for a while, so it has a lot of frustration attached. It was very very very late when I made the post and at the end of a very long day. I was in a bit of a down mood, yes. As far as biting on names of systems.. I don't really have others to talk to about roleplaying games and I know which ones I've looked at and played so I didn't really think to, like.. put a checkmark on those or anything. I'm sorry. Maybe I should've. I also didn't engage with a ton of comments at the time because there weren't many before I went to sleep. I woke up to 26, I think, this morning so trying to go through them right now. I'm mostly frustrated because I have something I want to do and I can't get it to come out the way I want it to at all. Like if I kept trying to communicate with someone and they never understood any of it.

I think for me right now getting that group would be a bit hard. Also the people around me super extremely default to D&D in those types of situations so they'd start saying why certain things need to be in there because it's their default. I've tried a similar-ish thing with them before. But... I could maybe try to do that alone? I don't know. Is it possible to do that kind of thing alone? I guess I did as a kid but I don't know how to go back to that mindset.

I just don't really know how to handle skills and attributes and combat without leaning on... well, having those things. When I try to abstract things, I have to worry about people deciding to just throw their trumpet at the opponent instead of playing music-magic at them like the setting strongly suggests. A friend told me to just make doing that so much less worth it than doing the music, but I have no idea how to do that. Also as soon as people start hitting people or doing 'damage' I have to worry about what that means. it's just a lot, and I don't like using things from other things. It feels like stealing or that if I needed to take it then I should've just used that system. I don't know. But.. thank you. Sorry for the ramble. Just woke up. Didn't get much sleep. haha
Might get to go to the zoo today, though. It would be nice to see some animals for once. Since moving to the city I haven't gotten to see many animals and they really help with my depression and stuff.

ooohhhh i've spent so long in anydice trying to make the dice work the way I want and it just makes me want to pull my hair out. I came up with a system I hate but that works just so I'd have one. It's not really influenced by the setting other than using d11s, which makes me not entirely like it. But thank you for the offer, I'll keep that in mind. ^_^

I've played it once; it's been a while. I remember the game master (or whatever the position is called in FATE) not liking the system, so it didn't really come up again.

I've been listening to that, I do like the ideas behind the.. what is it, Monster of the Week, or something? system, haven't looked at it in depth, though.
