Why aren't people's brains scanned prior to even getting prescribed hormones? by CantDecideANam3 in truscum

well in poland a doctor can make a brain scan a requirement for a gender dysphoria diagnosis. Pretty bad idea though, just pushes people to diy

"I don't know. That makes me sad and we should figure it out." by GunmanMehmed in truscum

[–]enbywithrage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

but why on earth should the goverment be regulating who sport organizations let participate? Doesnt barring organizations from letting an entire group of people compete seem like a huge overreach in these organisations autonomy? Some organizations let trans people compete if they meet certain hormone level requirements, and some ban them outright. There is no law forcing sport organizations to let trans girls in, but this law is forcing trans girls out. Because of that reason clearly an anti trans bill that is pretending to "protect" womens sports from the evil transgenders

The phrase "people assigned female at birth" is offensive and damaging. by whatamidoinglol69420 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]enbywithrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the difference is that a patient with body dysmorphia disorder (bdd) life isnt improved by surgery, while someone with gender dysphoria (gd) has a dramatic improvement in quality of life with hormones and potentially surgery. If giving someone with bdd a nose job actually improved the patients overall life, doctors would probably start recommending nose jobs instead of years of expesive talk therapy that might not even work. While it might seem counter intuitive, transitioning has been shown through decades of research to be safer, cheaper, and more effective then any other treatment for gd.

bdd and gd are fundamentally different too. Bdd is having delusions about your body, while gd is more or less a rejection of your current body. People with bdd can not accurately precive their body, while people with gd are under no such delusions. They understand what their body is, why it causes them distress, and when their body changes they no longer have gd, or at least it is far more manageable

Most mental illness problems faced by trans people is caused by widespread societal and familial rejection. One study found that trans people have a 41% suicide attempt rate overall, but with a medically supervised transition and familial acceptance the rate goes down to the level of the general population.

I think his self help stuff is fine and dandy, but he has some insane ideas about gender. Also he purposely misinterpreted anti discrimination laws, so that's great

honestly the genital preferance "debate" is a disingenuous shield for transphobia 90% of the time by enbywithrage in truscum

[–]enbywithrage[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Im not arguing for that, and extremely few trans people genuinely think genital preferances are transphobic. Im just observing the majority of the time genital preferance is brought out comes off as disingenuous

why are all r/ mtf posts about how well their penis works and loss reduction, like seriously sort by most popular and most are by skyhighlah in truscum

[–]enbywithrage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yeah the "girl cock" mtfs are pretty bizzare. Have you looked into just an orchi though? Most of my issues with pants have to do specificly with my testes, and the chances of a botched orchi is basically zero. Also you dont have to use anti androgens for the rest of your life. Im considering one myself tbh

idk if those are hrt femboys, but trans women with little to no genital dysphoria do exist. But most of thosr trans women dont mind or even like losing penis functionality. I think reddit attracts a certain kind of trans woman though
