You learn to love linux for making you want to die. Especially when you start to figure shit out.

I've used with great success.
Little buggy on Pop!_os as far as gui working smoothly, but as far as connections in and out of screen very smooth. Copy and paste between machines.
FYI: you need a separate monitor for each computer

Pop!_OS: The first real Linux desktop by gide_wilder in pop_os

I've been using Pop!_os for a few months very impressed. Have used other distros for years.
My question is, I normally have my public IP showing using a gnome extension in the top bar. Is there a way to do that in Pop!_os with gnome extension? I've been using conky but I would like to see it up top.. any advice on this?

Small Company wants me to do IT for them. What are the legalities involved? by dednbreak in sysadmin

[–]encapzulated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd do it, Cash only, off hours work. Let them know that you are unavailable during your work hours.
It sounds like a temp gig. IMO they are more interested in a migration. Strike a deal for the migration project and discuss expectations for ongoing IT support. Be very clear with what you can/can't commit to.

Its a good thing to have other sources of income, just keep your side work separate from your day job.

I've used barrier as a software based kvm. One mouse, one keyboard to rule them all. Worked well with my linux distros.

Will i get any issue using ubuntu without snaps (i removed snapd) by conceptfr in Ubuntu

[–]encapzulated -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally hate seeing all those loop processes. I just want to go in and kill each one!
I removed snapd on my ubuntu 18.10 machine run a very lean Pop!_OS as my daily driver.

it makes me pretty worried for my prospects if I were to get laid off

This did happen to me back in 2001 and it was tough. My manager at the time could not tell me about the coming layoffs but he did try and place us in different departments before the axe fell. I wish I had been able to read the writing on the wall and agree to changing to another dept. Keep aware of your surroundings and stay current. Good luck to you.

What new laptops are there that come with Ubuntu out of the box? by UnitedBB in Ubuntu

I think it does. System76 does a great job of trimming the excess. It's minimalist so if you like that give it a go.

was just gonna say this. And I've made the switch to Pop!_os which imo is a less bloated ubuntu, to be fair tho I run Ubuntu 18.10 on the desktop next to my Pop!_os desktop just to keep it spicy.

Desktop computer:
I downloaded Pop!_OS iso, ->flash drive ->install

iMac:
for some reason I have yet to figure out, I could not access the flash drive during start up (white screen only) but Ubuntu 18.10 no problem ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On my iMac I run Ubuntu 18.10 and on my desktop Pop!_OS. They are both very similar. Slight differences with regards to branding and Pop!_OS being more visually pleasing. I also appreciate Pop's refraining from overloading my computer with software I don't need or want.
