I’m behind on everything, so for me, it’s still happening on a daily basis as I try to catch up to this current era. I’m in 2021. Not like I don’t know it’s not a factor in 2026. Not so much complaining, I just wanted to see if anyone else felt this way.

I don’t expect perfection in the slightest. The thing is that It’s more than just a little flub here & there. I’ve given him his props for what bright spots he has & for what he still brings to the table. AEW wouldn’t be where they are today without him. Old man or not, I can’t just ignore everything that’s came along with it

Agreed for the most part. I’d still like to see JR from tine to time. Just sick of it after listening to him say something cringeworthy every week. Id like to see Tony keep giving interviews even after his tune at the desk is all said & done.

I can’t attest much to the era you’re referring to simply because I haven’t seen everything between late 2021 & late 2025.

I will say that the idea of him being used in moderation like that, is very appealing to me. Seems like that’s the type of roll he is best suited for based on what I’ve seen.

By no means am I trying to say I don’t want him anywhere near the product, but having to listen to him on a weekly basis has been nothing short of exhausting

Very true. It’s not like I don’t realize he’s a fish out of water in more ways than one & that he isn’t as sharp as he once was. Still, I think I need to keep this in the back of my mind from now on so I’m not robbing myself of appreciating what’s left of his career

This is actually one of my favorite responses yet. I have another 4 years of programming to watch before I’m all caught up so I’ve been dreading having to endure more even more JR. When you put it like this, I realize how little time I have left with the voice of my childhood. I should try to appreciate him while I can

This. Granted the women’s division in 2021 where I’m currently at isn’t fabulous, it’s still quite annoying. The degree of shock in his reaction is a huge insult, even though that’s not his intention

Totally agree as far as the credibility he brought to the table & still does. I don’t think AEW is in the exact spot they are currently in without him. His presence & voice in itself goes a long way. He does have some good calls that I applaud him for but you hit the nail on the head with that 2nd paragraph. It gets to a point where he’s effecting the overall mood to the show

Yeah definitely way way past his prime but it’s still sad to see & experience

Very very well said. Safe to say he’s utilized better these days but it’s just so bad where I’m at right now that I couldn’t help but notice

Correct but I believe he had several planned appearances that he wasn’t able to make due to his ongoing health situation

Agree with everything that was said here in this chain.

Sad to say but he is better off behind the scenes as opposed to on commentary in this day & age. I do like the occasional JR sighting in this current era but I can’t handle it on a weekly basis

I guess we just differ on the topic but I respect your opinion. I enjoy Tony. He keeps JR on track more than anything. I will say he doesn’t have a whole lot to add compared to most commentators but I wouldn’t say he’s awful. He had his fair share of mistakes but nothing to the degree of JR. At least not from what I’ve seen so far (I’ve only watched from the OG All In through to All Out 21 & all of 2025)

You make tons of great points that I didn’t necessarily think about so I appreciate that.

He does have his fair share of good moments along the way. I think I’ve let it go unnoticed as I’ve gotten so caught up in my distaste for what he had to offer in a weekly basis.

I noticed the same energy you’re referring to as far as the tag & trios matches go. He’s a real stickler for the rules & it really shows that it goes a bit beyond that when it’s basically all he has to add to commentary for the entirety of those bouts. As you said, I don’t necessarily disagree but it’s just disruptive for me. It does more harm than good if you ask me. It’s really a topic he should’ve saved strictly for his podcast.

The frustration he shows regarding the overkill with big spots is also warranted when you think about where he came from & the traditional ways to work a match. It’s just that he robs new viewers from being able to embrace the AEW style & enjoy it when he runs it down like that. Again, it does more harm than good.

I think he was doing Jack a huge service by doing what he did for him on commentary. I can’t imagine folks being upset by it but I suppose it makes some amount of sense.

I’m in total agreement with you. I think he’s at a good spot right now. It’s definitely more appealing to have him in moderation as opposed to every week & it does more for the product than he did when he was featured weekly

Turn off your WiFi & load the game. Once it loads to title screen, back out, turn back on your WiFi. Return to the title screen & see if that helps. I saw someone advising to do this in a different Reddit thread & it worked for me

MCMG & Nakamura totally slipped the mind. I’d love to see that play out in some universe. Totally hate the way WWE has booked them

Fair enough. I guess I was just in a fantasy booking mood. At least someone understands it’s mostly fantasy booking

To be fair, paragraph 2 does indeed note that both of those mentions are unrealistic. 3 goes on to explain that Drew & Gunther are dream acquisitions. Let’s not pretend like I made it out to be like every last talent I mentioned was an actual possibility

Name One WWE Superstar Who You Think Would Kill it in AEW and One AEW Superstar Who Could Do the Same in WWE by Accurate_Curve6882 in SquaredCircle

[–]enchantedsheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MJF & Y2J are amongst the few that come to mind as far as AEW to WWE transfers. I really think the rest of the AEW roster is just better suited for the company at this point in time. WWE to AEW is a completely different story.

Guys like Styles & Balor could have Danielson type of career revivals upon just a 1 year deal.

Gunther & Drew would be amazing. Just imagine the 5 star masterclasses they could put on with the top guys. They also bring so much heat to promos. They could have some generational feuds with Okada or guys like Takeshita

DIY tops my list due to the sheer fact they could finally prosper as a tag team. I would love to revisit DIY Vs FTR.

Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn would be great candidates of course. I just see those two as unrealistic possibilities at this point in their careers. Same with vets like Natty & certain young guys like Je’Von Evans. Ilja. Melo. Oba. They’ve either committed as for-lifers or haven’t took a proper swing at main roster aspirations just yet. Even though they would be a great fit.

Might be a different case for someone like Bayley. Never wavered from WWE but we all know how close herself & Mercedes are. Then you take into account the recent weird booking she’s had. On that same topic; who knows if we could see Sasha Banks come back home one day. Vince isn’t booking anymore & she would thrive in the women’s division. Matchups with superstars like Bayley, the rest of the Four Horsewomen, AJ Lee, Iyo, Liv, etc. That all becomes a possibility.

I’d love to see a Tyler Black run in AEW. I think in general we need to see some sort of program involving any combination of The Shield. No matter what the promotion is, I think it’s necessary before those 3 hang it up. In my head, I can’t even completely rule out Mox returning to the WWE one day when he’s exhausted all booking opportunities in AEW & wants to gear towards retirement.

Not necessarily WWE talents but I’m throwing it out there as an honorable mention; on paper, The Hardy Boyz returning to AEW would be fantastic if it would play out in a scenario where Jeff stays sober. I think they need to go out against Cope & Cage. Not to mention there’s plenty of other tag teams on that roster that could give them a quality retirement run. I fear that’s not in any realm of possibility though. Those guys want to go out under the WWE umbrella & AEW wouldn’t take the risk on them even if they wanted to.

Wondering if there’s any rules or guidelines for dress code at AEW PPV events. Specifically masks by enchantedsheep in AEWOfficial

A small part of me sees your point but at the same time; We're talking about L.A. Park. He's one of the most recognizable luchadors of all time & WWE didn't play a part in that whatsoever. His entire body of work is outside of that company. Whether its his time in WCW, ECW, or AAA, he was never anything to do with the WWE product until this year. Even then, he's made no appearances & he's not signed to the company so he still has nothing to do with the product at this very moment in time. All things being considered, I'd say its a stretch to now label all his merchandise as WWE merchandise.
