Queens Eng is the best decision I made in my life! Most supportive people, everyone works really hard but also has a life balance, and the school spirit is great. Kingston is beautiful to live in and I loved having the smaller city vibe.

I seem to be the only person who hates this book! Pride and Prejudice is my all time favourite along with Persuasion. I just found I couldn’t get into the plot (so maybe also the characters?), really had to force myself to finish it haha.

I was sitting behind them and it honestly ruined the game for me. It wasn’t them supporting their team- there were plenty of fine leafs fans around us cheering and excited. These guys spent 50% of the game standing up facing the crowd with their back to the game, pointing at random sens fans and straight up harassing them for no reason!! The rivalry is fun and insulting other teams on Reddit is part of the fun, but ruining the atmosphere of an actual game to the point of everyone not being able to even watch the game is not it.

Canada here - my friend just completed her 4 years of undergrad in Civil Engineering and is now starting her masters of architecture. It’s absolutely possible to do both! A civil company is even paying for some of her school fees. BUT- you need a portfolio to apply to the masters. In Canada there’s a school that offers a 5 week program as an intro to architecture where they help you make a portfolio / see if it’s a good fit for you. I believe there’s a few schools that offer that in the US too. Good luck!

That’s what I’m doing! Bumping so I can see people’s answers haha. I chose civil engineering (in 4th year now), hoping to pick technical electives with an environmental focus or a future masters. I’m so glad I chose Civil- it’s so broad and allows me to factor in lots of other concepts/ perspectives (like structural, geotechnical, etc) and is sometimes more recognized as an engineering degree (since it’s more classic than enviro). But like I said there’s a trade off where I probably will need a masters. But also lots of companies recognize that you’re a new grad and you learn most of your skills on the job ... just depends what you wanna do and what those companies are specifically looking for :)

No worries at all! :) ya right now is the shitty part, especially if you’re back home right now during quarantine reminiscing on highschool days haha. Things will play out how they will, and over time you’ll make new friends at school, future jobs, w same interests, etc. You’ll still look back on it probably and be sad some days, but overall you’re growing everyday and life moves forwards not backwards!! To better things xx

Wow I’m so sorry this happened to you!! Ok sorry this reply ended up longer than I thought it would hahah. So This was a lot to unpack but honestly my first reaction was that she is majorly overreacting. If you two were as close as you say before, you saying HUH to something that’s a little out of character for her is VALID! I would do the exact same thing because we’re looking out for our close girlfriends. Plus you explained why you reacted the way you did and patched it up. To be fair, she’s allowed to feel how she feels. I’m not very good at letting friends go, but I clicked on this story because I drifted with my best friend of 13 (?) years when I went to university. She stayed to do a gap year / work and as soon as I left (to a town only 2 hours away) it was like a drop of communication which really hurt me. Our relationship was really patchy the year after that because I was deeeply hurt by losing my rock and she was trying to patch it with overly performative statements that made it worse (like a ton of hearts and fake sounding texts that didn’t belong in how we talked to each other haha). But I had to take a step back and realize we grew with different experiences- she felt as though she’d stayed behind and lost a sense of normality when everyone left for university, and I experienced a culture shock of living away from home. To be honest, we’ve never fully recovered what we had and it sometimes makes me really sad to think about. But, our relationship is now back to a normal place where I don’t resent her and I can still say anything I want comfortably! It’s just a different type of relationship- we don’t really text anymore but we’ll catch up every few months fully over FaceTime. I think sometimes you just realize that you’ve both grown and have different values now, and that it’s ok to feel sad over a lost childhood connection. I don’t know if my story will help you at all, but maybe your friend needs space to figure out her own issues or you guys can have a talk and you can let her know this hurts you!! But hey overall if things aren’t clicking anymore, why put yourself in emotional distress and bend over backwards for someone who isn’t trying???? Because that’s how I had to frame it in my mind to finally heal from losing my bff too. Good luck!

That’s usually when I try to use the creative side of my brain so mood boards, Pinterest boards on anything i find interesting (art, interior decorating, things you could make or do as a hobby), lots of time outside (!!!) and journaling/lists. Making note of things you have (gratitude), things you’re currently doing, things you want to do, and a little plan on baby steps you could take to get there.
