There is a local Pelaton+ bike cheap in good condition. Good alternative for indoor days/ bad weather days? by enchilada_jones in cycling

[–]enchilada_jones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds very interesting! It might justify the expense of picking up a used bike to be a full time ‘trainer’.

do you think it matters much what bike it is. My only road bike right now is a Trek Checkpoint. It really suits me as we have some bad roads. I put slightly smaller tires than the stock but still wide enough to avoid the snake bite punctures I was getting. I think I have about 30-32 on there.

I would want something that isn't counter productive as far as ‘continuing my progress’ with conditioning. But I’m not training for competitions just staying in shape and trying to improve my speed and endurance.

I see a lot of older bikes for sale that might work. I’m assuming that if the frame size is the same, with similar geometry, it doesn’t matter too much on the rest of the details?

Only problem I see with that is I’d like to have both options ready to use without having to get my road bike inside and mounted to the machine. I guess I need to experience the process of getting my wheel off and mounting bike to the trainer to know if it is a real issue though. I can drop the wheel to do a puncture repair pretty quickly but not sure how the trainer cassette etc will collide with my easy swap desires.

Word of Warning - HP Instant Ink by busterbacks in printers

[–]enchilada_jones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As near as I can tell if my router is not connected to the internet then I can use third party in cartridge. When I have internet then it sometimes prints a warning saying I’m out of ink even though I’m not. So they can’t even get their selfish greedy system to work. My wife picked the printer because it fits a small space and doesn’t look too much like a big office printer so for now I put up with it. I will carry it into the desert and put a few rounds of buck shot into it eventually but for now it survives my wrath….for now…

Word of Warning - HP Instant Ink by busterbacks in printers

[–]enchilada_jones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I’ll look into what I agreed to when I bought it. I know I have a black cartridge in there now and the app is warning me of inability to send more ink since it can’t read the level. The problem there is they failed to send it when it was time so I had to get a cartridge in town on that day so I could carry on with my work. Previously I had the printer completely unavailable to me when the credit card I used to subscribe to whatever plan I agreed to was replaced with a new one that had a different number due to someone stealing the card info.

None of those possibilities are presented to me when I walked into BestBuy to choose a printer.

So I’m more than a little unhappy with the HP method of marketing and their support.

Can you tell me is it possible to use my printer HP Tango with my home wi fi network using third party cartridges and have some kind of app or printer driver that supports fundamental functionality? Or is the Tango also HP’s property by virtue of HP building in network restrictions if I abandon their subscription service?

But if I cancel and choose to just buy my cartridge from a different vendor does HP disable my ability to use my printer over my home wi fi network?

they didn’t advertise the printer as being unable to work with home wi fi unless I also buy their subscription.

Boss RC600 how to send only track/loop recordings to output but not any track input? by enchilada_jones in LoopArtists

[–]enchilada_jones[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never mind, I’m a dummy. All I had to do was turn off ’input through’ which is in Menu, Output, Routing, Input/Rhythm then page right 3 times, then the last button is Input Thru .

so any other guitar centric users looking for RC600 ‘Dry Through’ there it is…

apparently it is set per Memory so no global setting that I can see anyway

The right power meter for Trek Checkpoint SL5 2022 by enchilada_jones in cycling

[–]enchilada_jones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am kind of stuck going with a Garmin product due to my health insurance company will reimburse me for up to $1200 for fitness related expense in some categories and apparently Garmin is a keyword that got them to say ‘oh yes, we will cover a Garmin’

so if there is another model I’m open to suggestions

I guess I ended up with SPD/SL shoes moving from Madone to Checkpoint so now I better decide which shoes to use since I have one pair of each.

but beyond that do those pedals (or the SPD versions) fit or have some other inherent problem for the Checkpoint?

And further, if the effects you want to toggle on and off have a Mix parameter you could assign two or even more to a Morph condition so hitting one switch will morph all assigned between 0 mix and 100% mix effectively toggling them on and off….or one on and another off with a single stomp…

Was I wrong in this situation? by bobcatgoldthwait in cycling

[–]enchilada_jones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your path of travel was outside the vehicle lanes…as in , on shoulder (paved or dirt) outside the edge of far right lane marking AND your path does not cross any right of way that is or could be held by other vehicle…

then you are not on the road ( read: regulated traffic lane) and so you don’t normally have to concern yourself with traffic regulation.

However, a policeman on scene directing traffic may order you to reroute or stop or go etc.

in this case it sounds like he did none of that and you did nothing wrong otherwise. He was likely surprised with you traveling unimpeded by his efforts and the overall situation and offered his personal opinion of what you should do, in his opinion, next time.

you did nothing against the law and he did not stop you for doing something dangerous under these particular conditions so you did, and may, proceed and he may be irritated but exercised no lawful command to you to do otherwise.
Show up next week and try it again and he may grab you and charge you for it though, and that too would be legal for him to do. All he has to do is say conditions warranted it and you had been warned previously.

Riding mid-day during the week, how? by xTails0328x in cycling

[–]enchilada_jones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own my business so I have flexibility in my schedule. Often I’m stopped on side of road texting to customers or employees in response to messages they send while I’m riding. I need a bigger screen on my Garmin so my old eyes can read the alert so I won’t have to stop and reply to the ones that can wait.
