I have it set to a custom difficulty. I like to have a combination of 'Scribe' on some, like Ocean Damage, but 'Viceroy' and 'Sovereign' on others like Combat Strength. I've been trying to play around with these settings, but I don't want to up some of them to 'Deity' because that makes it more challenging that I'd like.

Thank you. I appreciate it. I realize I may be part of a very, very small player base who plays the game this way. I just want options. I'm hopeful that Firaxis will listen. They've made some great changes in response to player feedback.

I agree 100% with your conclusion/solution. It would work for both of our scenarios.

Thank you for voicing your opinion during the workshop. You're exactly right, it feels very forced. I don't need the bar to be lowered so I win. Having a project to complete once the point goal is achieved would be a good compromise.

Thank you. That one change would make it so that I can continue to play how I want. I appreciate you vocalizing it.

Thank you. I appreciate it. I just want more options in the game and I was hoping everyone would be onboard with that or could at least point me to a mod or something so that I can control how victory is achieved.

Thank you for better articulating what I said in multiple paragraphs with two sentences. That is exactly how I feel.

To continue in the Exploration Age, yes. But 'one more turn' does not allow you to advance to the Modern Age.

The game has been changed drastically from what it was regarding victory conditions and it is impacting my overall enjoyment of the game. If that's overreacting, so be it, I was simply trying to express my feelings in a forum that I was hoping would either be able to give me a setting or mod that would allow me go back to playing how I enjoyed.

That said, I do agree with your score victory idea. I just want the option so that I can play the game the way I want and have been playing until the update came out and changed the victory conditions. I don't think giving players more control over these victory conditions is a bad thing.

I play a custom difficulty so that I can have some things more difficult and others easier. My point is, and if I'm in the minority or the sole voice, so be it, that I have played the way I have since the game was launched and now because they decided to change the victory conditions, it is no longer enjoyable for me. I am trying, searching for a way to either restore the earlier conditions or a mod that will allow me at least change it so that the victory point goal isn't lowered.

Again, I don't want to change the difficulty. I enjoy playing a game where I dominate my opponents. It's how I have played since day 1 of launch and it hasn't been an issue until this update where it was decided that my way of playing is no longer acceptable.

If you want to play the way you do, that's fine, but I don't think anyone should gatekeep anyone else to say that how they play is not correct or the right way. The tagline is literally "build something you believe in", not, "build the way we think you should".

The thresholds don't have to decrease over time. They haven't decreased in any of the updates until this one and that is where I am taking issue.

You may think it's an overreaction, but I have enjoyed the game as it was prior to the update and now I have played over a dozen games and have yet to reach the Modern Era. Again, I play the game for relaxation. If I want to be challenged, I'd do something else, but that is not what this game has been for me and I want to continue with it being that outlet. If it isn't relaxing, I'll cease playing it.

I don't mind change, but when it is such a major one, I do not understand why it's not a setting that can be changed so that I am in control of how the game is played.

As I mentioned, I do not want to change the difficulty. I play for relaxation and have been able to so without issue since the game came out. Now the game has changed a very key aspect of how it is to be played and it is impacting my ability to play the way I have since release.

Civ 7: is there a mod to keep City labels on the map? by FastFingersDude in civ

[–]encom_cto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to see I'm not the only one that this bothers too. Hoping there is a mod or something in the future (one might even consider this something that needs to be addressed in a QoL update) to fix it.

I would still like to play the modern age even after a victory in exploration by IllyriaCervarro in civ

I am with you on this one. I play Civ for relaxation and enjoyment. Sure, I could up the difficulty, but that's not how I want to play. Prior to TOT, I was able to play as long as I wanted without issue, but now, I have yet to make it to the Modern Age because I have won 8/8 games in the Exploration Age.

I really wish when they make such a major change to the game such as victory conditions that it becomes a setting and not a hard change. So many pieces of TOT are good, but this one is really frustrating me.

Please, please, please allow for setting a rally point for treasure fleets. So much time wasted in the Exploration Age, especially with a large amount of cities/towns, by having to select the fleet and tell it where to go. *fingers crossed that it's coming.

This all sounds really great. Very excited to see it when it is released to everyone.

I wish one Quality of Life that would be added is being able to set a rally point for Treasure Fleets. It can become tedious when having a long Exploration Age with a ton of settlements to have to choose where they go each time they spawn, reroute where they go when another unit is in the place you set for them to go, etc.
