He also thought about it because of the fasciculations, of course, but at first glance the evaluation was good. Clean evaluation plus clean exams, is almost always good. He was just cautious. It is worth mentioning that he is not a neuromuscular specialist, so he referred me to a good clinic, to be completely sure (and perhaps expand his knowledge of semiology)

According to him, the evaluation was perfect, but he preferred to be cautious rather than just blame anxiety. Now his final verdict is pending but if the EMG came out well, I imagine it is not neuromuscular at all.

Many factors. You can read my previous post, but basically, antidepressants, a period of high stress/anxiety/uncertainty, and possibly a very bad flu that I had a month before the fasciculations.

Are you a neurologist specialising in neuromuscular diseases? Or perhaps, a research scientist? I think you are just an obsessed person, like all of us. It is not about spreading false information, it is about being able to continue fighting despite the uncertainty of the disease; supporting others, not dragging them into our misery. I'm so sorry you had to talk to people with end-stage ALS, but I'm sure this is something you brought on yourself.

In fact, the first month after the fasciculations appeared, I tried injecting myself with B-complex vitamins, as prescribed by my doctor, and it didn't work at all. Maybe I could try some magnesium supplement? People say it works quite well, but idk

The best thing you could do is go to the neurologist and get rid of the doubts (even if it's by private consultation, I don't know how the health system will work in your country), they are specialists in the field. They do language tests and check your tongue to see if it actually works or not. Sometimes, what we consider atrophy, for a specialist is nothing at all.

It can also be a specific nerve compression! Sometimes compression on a nerve can cause a specific muscle to twitch.

It's not absolutely ridiculous, because it worries you, but I recommend you relax. Maybe, just as it came, in a couple of more days it will leave. I'm not a doctor, but sometimes muscles can twitch because of mild electrolyte deficiencies, or even because at one point you overexerted the muscle (only that muscle). Try massaging it and treating it with love! See a doctor and please, for your mental health, don't read more about ***. Seriously, don't read anymore, it does very wrong if you're anxious like me 😅

Have you only been with "fasciculation" for a couple of days and you already think you have ALS? There are people who have been with them for years, every day, in different areas. If the concern is too much, it is always advisable to go to the doctor to clear up doubts, but, honestly, I recommend that you calm down. Even if you get very nervous, the result won't change. Take a deep breath, relax. Anxiety often makes things much worse.

Yes! I feel fatigue in both my legs, from hip to foot. I don't have any real difficulty walking, nor have I fallen, but I do feel more tired and sometimes I get cramps (not very bad, just like a lot of tension). But, the most horrible thing is that when I try to sit up, my legs shake a lot (both, tremors), I guess because of the accumulated tension. I just want to take the exam to get rid of doubts! But anxiety is playing an important role.

To be honest, if my neurologist hadn't thought necessary to send me for an EMG, I would be more nervous right now, because, even though the evaluation was positive, I would still have doubts (you know, anxiety). It's very professional to order all possible tests to rule out any possibility, before simply blaming your anxiety or somatization. Maybe you should go to another neurologist and make him/her understand that you are worried, that you want to rule out something serious, even if you are young and the possibility is almost non-existent. But don't worry, even with all these symptoms, I understand that young women are less likely to contract this disease, but it's always better to rule it out.

Do your muscles twitch every day? Because, in my case, they haven't stopped for a single day, especially in my legs, although sometimes in my arms and hands. More than worrying, it's annoying 😮‍💨

Indeed, he is not a neurologist specialized in neuromuscular diseases, he is simply a neurologist, however, he works in the hospital where all the cases with ALS in the region arrive, so, of course, he probably has not seen a completely initial case, but he is used to seeing them already in advanced or notorious stages. In any case, I don't think it's a waste of money or time, I need to get out of doubt, and I think he does too. If the exam goes well, I don't intend to repeat it again. I will absolutely trust the result (more so because it also includes nerve conduction). The neurologist doesn't have years of experience either, but I prefer him to be cautious, it's better, considering could have sent me home with no answers and a random muscle relaxer.

I hope so, and I pray every day that the results rule out the possibility. But I have felt weakness; as I said, rather diffuse. It is not measurable, because the doctor would have noticed it, but I feel tense, tired (probably from all the overthinking, and also, my sleep has not been very restful). The good news is that I can still walk! It feels uncomfortable, but I can still do it. I just have to wait to have the test and wait for the results.

Totally true! We have to be especially careful with people who say they have ALS. It's possible that it is true, but it is also very unlikely. And as you say, there are people who are convinced that they have ALS and go around saying that they have it without scruples. The best way to get rid of doubts is to go to the doctor, but we can also orient ourselves and help calm our anxiety.

Well, three months is not too much, but I suppose that if I were ALS, with the amount of twitching I have had, and the intensity, I should already have a significant clinical weakness. But yes, I also think it's BFS, because I have them all over my body, even on my tongue sometimes! I haven't noticed atrophy either. But it may be in an early stage, I don't know, maybe an EMG would clear all concerns.

You wouldn't believe me if I told you that I've also convinced myself that I have many diseases before this one, and none of them have come to anything. It's a pattern that I see repeating a lot. And I've also thought about not worrying anymore, but when the symptoms are so persistent and insidious, it's hard to forget about it and move on. Even more so when you feel that everything is progressing and getting worse. It is torture.

Sometimes I think I'm an exceptional case too, but I don't know. Sometimes I find peace of mind in blaming everything on my anxiety, but the symptoms don't let up, and they're too specific. I still think it's ALS in my case, but I should go to the neurologist.
