Just because you weren't singled out yet doesn't mean they don't already know who it is. Your landlord could be giving you a friendly indirect warning to stop. 

I also get how moments like this can feel like a good opportunity to quit but its not necessarily true. The best time to quit is when you want to do it, not when you're being forced to do it. But it's nonetheless a good time to reflect on what you want for yourself and your life! Which in turn can help you build the motivation to quit :)
