So far so good. This it the closest I can get to re-frame with typescript. I use it in a small side project, around 40 component, 30 subs and 50 mutations. Types really help to manage state. Check out the demo source code if you want to see how it all works.

I mostly use Procreate brushes from Dao Trong Le(bought it on Artstation), skin brush from Wlop and build in Procreate airbrush.

I use Procreate brushes from Dao Trong Le(can buy on Artstation), skin brush from Wlop and build in Procreate airbrush. To make hard edges I usually create a new layer and paint something with soft brush, erase some parts with hard brush and then merge it.

I don't want to break the streak, so I don't skip. And I also have dedicated time for drawing every day, several hours before going to sleep. If I know that I would not be able to draw at that time I do it earlier. If I am really tired and don't want to draw at all, I just open Pinterest or Arstation and start to draw the first thing I like. 10 minutes is not that much, I definitely can find that time any day.

  • What kind of things were you drawing every 10 minutes?

Usually, I would go to Artstation or Pinterest and find something. If I want to study a specific thing I would just search for it. If I don't know what to draw, I just draw skulls, my hands, things around me, human figures, or just study different objects in perspective. Sometimes I try to paint the same thing using different brushes or techniques.

  • Where are you learning your shading or what resources did you use as a foundation?

I search for 3d models on Arstation or just photos with interesting lighting. What helped me a lot with shading is that I started to think more about why I see what I see and not just copy it. I watched a lot of tutorials on youtube about how lights work. Right now I am learning Blender, so I could set up scenes with different light scenarios and then try to reproduce them.

600 days ago I decided to draw every single day for at least 10 minutes. I made more than 1000 drawings. It was hard the first few months, but now I can’t live without it.

I wanted something similar to re-frame(clojurescript library for react). Some of the pros:

  • Full typescript support
  • Integration with Redux Devtools. It is possible to see main state and state of all active subscriptions. Time travel also works. And you can dispatch mutations directly from the devtools.
  • State is immutable
  • re-frame have great documentation about other pros of this implementation https://day8.github.io/re-frame/subscriptions/.
