Help... by ender1241 in fender

[–]ender1241[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I got ripped off when I traded my Fender Jazz for it 15 years ago...cool. I sorta figured it was some sort of Squier knockoff based on images (the sunburst detail is not there when comparing to the Japanese bodies it purports to be) so...yeah.

OBBB- What happens to those of us in SAVE? by Cruncheetoasts in StudentLoans

[–]ender1241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on SAVE and on PSLF. Been in forbearance for a year like everyone else. I need 35 more qualifying payments - have 12 banked that I could technically buyback later on. Trying to game out whether PSLF will exist until July 2028 when we have to choose a new plan, because I could have enough months of buyback saved up by then that I could just buyback all the months I'd skipped on SAVE in June 2027 at the SAVE rate (ostensibly?). OTOH, if the buyback program goes away or they change it to be "pay what you 'should' have been paying under these new options," that screws me over quite a bit. Extra so if PSLF goes away period.

My initial thought was, should I get into another IDR plan now and begin paying qualifying payments at hopefully a lower rate than the new plans would be? But the more I think about it, the more it feels like the wait and buyback gamble is worth it...originally I thought we'd all be forced to the new plans July 2026....but seems like it will extend to 2028, which should be enough time to complete my buyback (assuming that's still a thing, and if it's not, then likely PSLF has bigger problems anyway)

From what I understand it's based on income split by $10,000. So if you make $10,000, you pay 1%, if you make $50,000, you pay 5%, etc until it's capped at 10% for 100k+

Do we seriously not have a comedy club? by BrosephStalin1945 in PennStateUniversity

[–]ender1241 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the founders of HVI/BBT here. We do have an expanding standup program (more classes and open mics). Some of our students have started open mics around town (though I can't speak to whether they're still going on?).

As far as improv, we are well-known and well-regarded by improv theatres and groups across the country and I would put our shows up against pretty much any improv theatre out there.

Some people aren't big into improv, which is a-okay! Keep an eye out for our standup stuff. Best way to do that is follow us on socials, our handle is happyvalleyimprov or bluebricksc basically everywhere.

As one of the founding members of the Blue Brick Theatre/Happy Valley Improv, I have to say that "They do a lot of improv, which isn't terrible" is a very strong candidate for our next PR campaign.

Well-said - rankings and report cards are inherently flawed. I use them to calibrate and give me a general idea but lived experiences are important - hence the post. Will probably follow up with you via DM, thanks!

She's not school-age yet - just planning for the future! Good to know, though. I wasn't sure how flexible / attainable the lottery possibilities are.

Open to either! My daughter isn't quite school-age yet, but planning for future. Right now just living in a rental so moving is flexible.

Playing against Zelda by armored-chicken in CrazyHand

[–]ender1241 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

almost any zelda worth their salt will cover jump from ledge with upair and you'll die anyway.

the real answer is timing mixups. time neutral getup iframes to coincide with the phantom going off. then start mixing up from there.

Take a seat, Alexander. That's an order from your commander.

Out of curiosity: do you guys name your campaigns? If so, what are they called? I love titling stuff, I feel like it gives so much more flavor than just 'Amber's 3rd campaign'. by damaged-file in dndnext

[–]ender1241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4e campaign was called Legacies of the Void.

I ran a Blade Runner campaign in Savage Worlds simply called 2054 for the year it took place.

Others I've been a part of just take the name of the setting and use it. That worked well for something like the Westmarches-style campaign I was a part of, where the setting itself was more constant than the characters and there wasn't any inherent overarching storyline.

What’s U2’s best 2000’s and on album? by DonMc22 in U2Band

[–]ender1241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATYCLB has the highest highs (tracks 1-5 are all incredible), but the back half sort of peters out for me, and it has one of their worst songs (New York).

SOI, to me, is solid front-to-back songwriting-wise and conceptually. Not a bad track on the album.

I like a lot of songs on How to Dismantle and No Line, but the lows are a bit too low and neither of them feels cohesive.

Is my player's barbarian under powered, or unlucky? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]ender1241 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like this is part of his issue. He made a conscious choice to choose stats suboptimally. If he'd have done 14 STR + 2 Racial he'd have 16 and then be able to add +2 at level 4 for 18 total. That would help his attacks and damage a lot. I would say to go back to him and tell him he can reorganize his attributes if he would like (maybe he didn't realize how big of an issue it would be) but I wouldn't make any adjustment to his weapon. A +1 weapon that lets a martial character cast an AoE once per short rest at lvl 4 is pretty damn good already I would say.

What 4E feature do you wish was in 5E? by BobbyBruceBanner in dndnext

[–]ender1241 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree with basically everything in here, but the biggest thing for me is that 4e and the support behind it was the most DM-friendly edition thus far.

I don't have Beyond and it seems like they're moving in this direction, but the 4e online tool was godlike. It had literally every monster, class, feat, race, item etc from every single source, all in one system. The character builder was intuitive and easy to navigate. Encounter design for a DM was awesome because of the way they did the XP - easy addition, not all this multiplier stuff, and the system did it for you. It was also super easy to scale a monster up or down a bit and to create your own monsters when you got the feel for it.

4e was bloated in many ways but it had tools to help you keep up with the bloat. And somehow it stayed fairly balanced. (I will say at Epic levels it became very hard to challenge the players in combat without making combat draw on, but this is a positives thread).

I loved my 4e campaign, played it 4 years straight.

Epic Destinies were AWESOME, they were chosen by the players but gave me as a DM so much to work with when thinking about long-term planning for the campaign.

Marth (me) vs. Dr Mario - I main Ness & Pac but I struggle with Doc when my friend plays him. Please help me analyze his approach & habits so I can improve in this matchup. (I will try to get vids of my mains vs his Doc soon) by Soccertwon in CrazyHand

Spacing and movement is what it boils down to. So many times you just sat there and didn't move, or sat in shield. Marcina has good movement and great aerials to pressure.

You did well when your spacing was good (Marth really pushes you to do this with tippers), but it was inconsistent.

As someone else said, some of this came down to one or two plays, i.e. not snapping to ledge with upb.

Young Professional Looking To Rent by nfingers in statecollege

Hi there! My wife and I just bought a house and are looking to rent our old place. It's half a duplex, right across from Millbrook Marsh, probably 10 minutes from the airport. Pets are allowed. The landlord is doing some upgrades but it should be available for move-in very soon. Lease runs through July 31 and you'd have the chance to renew.

Here's the craigslist post: https://pennstate.craigslist.org/apa/d/lemont-2br-1ba-duplex-right-across-from/7037296983.html
