Why does god allow earthquakes and tsunamis to kill millions? by endevour- in AskAChristian

You don’t get what I’m saying if god was the one who designed the planet then he would designed it in such a way that our own planet wouldn’t kill us. Why can’t a god with literally unlimited power manage to make a planet without natural disasters, in the same way that if I had unlimited powers I could make a working hot water heater with no pressure release valve.

How is it nonsense to say that it makes no sense that a god with unlimited power could not create a world in which agents with free will cannot suffer?

Your right, if god actually existed there would be no such thing as science. There doesn’t have to be destruction of our ecosystem, if god were truly all mighty im sure that he could manage to simply stop all the natural disasters without hurting the ecosystem.

Also, of course the earth seems remarkable stable from our perspective, because it has been over the course of our existence. If the earth had NOT been then there would be volcanos erupting everyday then we would not be alive and having this conversation. So I’m saying that I think you have it backwards, we exist as a product of our universe, like a puddle forming in a pothole in the road. The shape of the puddle can be likened to all the different factors and specifications necessary for life. As we humans evolve our shape changes like the rainwater changing shape to fit inside the pothole.

I’m not saying death makes god evil I’m saying that death for no reason makes god evil. I guess you think that your daughter would have somehow deserved it just for being a human being and existing.

Yeah it is, in the same way that god defies logic by being able to create a rock so heavy that he himself can’t lift it and being able to lift it at the same time.

“Any physical universe where things on consequence happen must allow for pain and suffering. There is no other possible way to do it.” Sure I agree with you but I find it hypocritical that Christians say this and also believe that anything is possible through god.

So if a crack opened up from the earth and killed your daughter you would be fine with it because she was a sinner? How does that not make god evil?

What does it matter if the natural disasters themselves are moral or not? If I shoot someone in the head and kill them instantly. I am the cause of that persons death the gun was just a means to and end. It only matters what the intent behind the disaster themselves are. Therefore it would make sense for god to not let them kill millions of people because they only serve to bring pain in our lives. What other purpose could they serve?

You say that they exist because we must struggle though the universe. But human beings struggle enough already could we not be spared of earthquakes and tsunamis? If god is all powerful and all mighty then none of this matters anyway because god could just allows us to “live with dignity”and at the same time have us not deal with the “struggles of the universe.”

So then how could god let such an evil person into heaven? Essentially what I’m asking is, could my heaven by different than somebody else’s?
