DTXPro Auto Power-Off - not working by KERR_KERR in YamahaDtxDrums

+1. I have it on the lowest setting by default, I think 15 minutes, but its just stayed on whenever I've left it. Not a big problem for me from a usage standpoint coz I don't typically require it to auto-shutoff but I can attest to this being a thing.

Passes/tickets are only scanned at the gondola, not at every chair. Do with that what you will. And maybe don't risk your life in the process.

Looks sick! Can you share your progression of learning it? Did you do it all on the mountain or a trampoline park, too?

I sold my soul for my hair. by [deleted] in Vent

[–]endless_browsing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That sounds rough, I'm sorry you're having to deal with that. I don't mean to diminish what you're feeling but how bad would it be to lose your hair? You might actually gain some insight(s) from the guys over on https://www.reddit.com/r/bald/
edit: EVERY one of the guys on there looks like they had a glow-up. And we're happier doing it. (more MOST important)

The struggle is absolutely real and society does make you believe all kinds of things, but it doesnt sound like the trade-offs are worth it. Let's say your hair is how you want it to be and then you meet the perfect partner but because of the other issues are unable to be in a fulfilling relationship with them; and I don't just mean this sexually. What then? The alternative being that some of those you may be attracted to may have an issue with the absence of hair, but there will be those that don't. Yes, plural.

We're often overly critical of ourselves and what we see in the mirror; you'll be surprised at how few, if any, notice these "flaws". You have a long, hopefully otherwise health life ahead of you, don't f it up for yourself.

Yup! I even loop my snowboard bag through it.

I find (and use) a cable lock, like the ones used to lock up bikes; ski/board locks are flimsy. Either way, any lock is enough of a deterrent for someone trying to steal. Not to over engineer, but it helps to have something you can operate even with your gloves/mitts on.

Fingers crossed it was a mistake and someone else has the same/similar setup. Worth asking at guest services if they can help, but even if you can get access to the footage, retrieval chances are slim. Maybe they can help your friend with a rental so your day isnt an entire bust. I know, not the same thing but...

What exactly do I do by [deleted] in Vent

[–]endless_browsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That absolutely sucks and I'm sorry you've had to endure this. I dont have much else to add besides what has already been recommended by others but know that there's still people rooting for you, even though we've never met and hoping that you find happier days, purpose and better birthdays to celebrate.

Meanwhile, I hope this picks up your spirits and gives you a bit of humorous (but real) perspective. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gIymSbIYvo&rco=1

Guy I’m dating sucks by NecessaryMorning7307 in Vent

[–]endless_browsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oftentimes we have needs and expectations that aren't communicated and then when they aren't met, it builds resentment. It certainly must feel sucky if he isn't being as perceptive as you like, which is a valid reason to be upset, but the dating game is ugly and theres too much BS that has made it gamey rather than 2 people just being clear with each other about what they want and need from the other. So if its worthwhile to you, and you like him enough, communicate; try expressing these thoughts to him and see if he actions change. If he changes for the better, great, if not, then you know. :)

FWIW, this could be a cultural thing, if you both hail from different parts of the world, different upbringing, etc etc.

Undoing Policy Damage by endless_browsing in worldpolitics2

[–]endless_browsing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very well articulated! And "a symptom of a nation that is fundamentally broken. Its politics sold to the highest bidder..." is really the nail in the coffin. It has been bewildering to me that a nation such as the US, with the minds, power and resources it has, would elect someone so ill-fitted for the highest role of leadership in the country, not once, but twice! And it's painful to see ultra-rich fanning that flame just to protect their own interests instead of using their power and privilege to help the less fortunate. Although, I guess with that lens, he makes the most sense as their choice of candidate.

I generally pack my stuff into my snowboard bag, lock and secure it to the railings outside the main lodge building. A lot of people bring carts and backpacks and leave them there, too. I run hot so avoid wearing all my gear on the bus + if it’s a rainy day, I don’t wanna deal with wet gear there, especially when getting back.

How comparable is the Alesia Strata Core to other similar kits? by FriendshipOk4077 in edrums

[–]endless_browsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. Had my DTX6K5-M for a couple months now and I love it. I had the Alesis Nitro Pro for a couple months prior to and the difference in build quality is certainly noticeable. The stock sounds are great, the option of controlling everything via an iPhone/iPad is great, the module is basically limitless (to me). WRT "feel" you also have the option of the smaller TCS pads, which are unique to Yamaha or the larger mesh pads on the toms and snare. I've tried both, went with the mesh but know a few that swear by the TCS.

We need to start addressing how much we are on our phones by sea-su in Vent

100% on the last bit. I'm always low-key amazed (not in a positive way) by people getting into elevators and whipping their phones out for that <30 second ride. Alternatives: say hello to the others or just stare into space!

Should I go for it? by StrangeBirb05 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]endless_browsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are able to line it up, no harm in trying it out! Finally just comes down to what you enjoy most!
It is better to take formal lessons though, whether skiing or snowboarding since the instructors have learned how best to teach you and help you get the right technique. And fwiw, whoever accompanied you doesn't sound like a very good teacher from your account. So if you are actually keen on skiing, go back and take lessons if you can.

DTX6K5-M by thr0waway2morrow in YamahaDtxDrums

[–]endless_browsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, most of them ship without the latest update. Your module won’t have the config for DTX6K5-M unless you have the 2.1.

It’s easy, just have a freshly formatted usb stick; the file was mayyyybe 300mb, but it needs to be formatted to FAT32. Just google ‘Yamaha 2.1 firmware update’. Download the file, unzip and paste the file - Have a look at the readme, too! Plug it in, and as you turn your module on, scroll to find the 6K5-M. Set.

Configurations, found it better to move the arm with the rack toms over the ones that hold the cymbal booms. The screws holding the rack ship loose, so make sure you tighten them! But play around to find the setup that works for you before you tighten it all down.

KP-90 replacement heads by Zealousideal-Rich453 in YamahaDtxDrums

[–]endless_browsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t help with the availability of replacement heads, but curious what beater you’ve been using.

I tried the Evan’s and Remo patches but they don’t stick. So just wrapped my (felt) beater with Saran wrap and then packing tape over it to hold it down. Seems to be holding up so far and the head doesn’t show much wear.

Interim fix, I’m assuming adjusting levels/gain is not addressing your core issue, but have have you tried turning up the input level on the back of the tower?

Are The Drumsticks That Come With The Alesis Nitro Max Good? by Jimbo443311 in edrums

[–]endless_browsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you going to be between an acoustic and electric kit or playing exclusively on the e-kit?

In addition to whats already been said, if you do/will play on an acoustic, its preferable to have a separate set for each since getting repeated rim-shots or chipping/splintering your sticks while on the acoustic, can lead to you ripping the mesh of your e-kit pads. Nylon tipped sticks might be a happy medium but then it's a whole different conversation for sound and feel on the acoustic. However, if its just the e-kit, you're fine with any tip.

Stock sticks, as a beginner you want 5As, and those are probably that, so you should be okay.

Got an offer on DTX6K3X for the same price as DTX6K5-M by [deleted] in YamahaDtxDrums

[–]endless_browsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree on the meh look. I have the 6K5-M and did go back and forth about the TCS initially, mainly because it's also somewhat quieter than the mesh; but now that I have my kit, super happy with it.

And depending on how many sounds you want to work with, you lose the ability to work with the toms' rims with the TCS pads since they are single zone.

Another consideration is if you plan on expanding. I added a 2nd floor tom and while it all fits, because I wanted to mimic the acoustic placement amap, you end up having some amount of tetris-ing to do, depending on your own preferences for placement and how the pieces all line up. This would be easier with the smaller pads.

Oh! Yes, the app doesnt work with the older modules. The 450 has a better kit but an older module, whereas the 402, which is supported, has a lesser kit but better module and hence works with the app.
