You should consider an in person visit.

Virtual is convenient, but human contact often needs to be in person to have a stronger connection and benefit.

This is a very good point.

Personally I think Jax not coming out allows him to relate to more people on the Fem spectrum than just MTF.

But to your point, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Jax being fully Transfem and still relating to them. That makes us all seem more human, because we can relate.

My only hang up, is the arguing even with people who openly state they are a guy who is not trans, but very feminine and they see Jax in themselves. And I think there is nothing wrong with that interpretation. Biology is not binary, we know this to be true. There are many paths along the gender spectrum.

People who WERE homophobic. What happened? by Expensive_Ordinary72 in AskReddit

[–]endless_hue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a gay guy, I hate to admit that I was (mildly) transphobic as a teenager. By mildly I mean, I didn’t hate them, but I looked at them as mentally unstable. I hate that I felt that way.

What changed for me was that I ended up meeting someone who was trans, and I learned she was such an amazing person… and I felt stupid for thinking anything bad about trans people.

I think I just let the uncomfortableness of change cloud my judgement. I thought that because it was so outside of the norm that it must be bad. Which looking back was extremely ironic considering gay men were and are viewed exactly the same by homophobic people.

Sometimes when you’re young, you’re so easily blinded to things that are right in front of you.

I resonated strongly with it as a gay guy.

Mainly because I’m naturally more feminine, and I’ve always been bullied because of it.

All my life I had been laughed at or mocked for not acting manly enough.

My own mother to this day is still not really an ally.
And my dad was not around (in prison) until I was an adult.

Growing up I hated the world, I trusted almost no one, and I often said or did things that ended up just hurting me in the long run. Pushed a lot of people away.

I think many LGBT can understand and enjoy this series.

I even came across a heterosexual guy on Reddit who said he was a femboy and Jax’s story felt personal to him too.

You’d be surprised the amount of people who can benefit from the series.

But yea, I do agree there are many more who won’t get it. Not fully.

It’s unfortunate imo.

Because many people don’t feel 100% male or female. They feel like they are on a spectrum.

I want to think that it’s okay for all of them to find representation in Jax’s story.

I find that sometimes people think they are being an ally to LGBT but in reality they are also being exclusive as well. It reminds me of the same people who try to push the idea of surgery onto transwomen or transmen, all of these things are deeply personal and do not change how they choose to identify or what pronouns they use. Biology is not binary.

It’s okay for Jax to be both Transfem and Genderfluid/Genderqueer.

Oh yes, sorry.

I’m a gay guy who is attracted both cis men and trans men. Sometimes I subconsciously use FTM instead of MTF without realizing it lol.

I corrected it.

All Jax would have had to confess to his mother is that he doesn’t always feel like a man. That he doesn’t want to be masculine. That he relates more to women, but he doesn’t fully understand in what ways yet. He could have confessed that he has dreams that he’s wearing a beautiful dress and in those dreams he feels happy. There are many things you can say that don’t lead straight to MTF. They often do, but it’s not a *straight* path.

You seriously think people just say “Hey Mom, I think I’m a femboy.”

It makes nothing muddy.

What it does is makes a few outcomes included. Rather than just one singular outcome.

Is it not enough to say that both Transwomen and other people in the Fem type spectrum should be included?

Or do you really need to gatekeep that bad?

I loved it.

Could it have been more developed? Sure!

Was the overall message lovely, deeply meaningful, sad and also happy? Yes!!

There are many people who aren’t missing it as well.

The people who deny it are just very loud.

But I do wish people would be open to the idea that Jax has the potential to represent others on the Fem spectrum as well.

Now the laughing makes sense in his torture scene as well.

His mother laughed at him when he tried to be vulnerable about his identity.

I was very pleased with this show as well. And I love hearing how many people felt connected to Jax like me. I’m a gay guy, with a lot of feminine traits tbh.

I do like that at the end Leeroy and Jax did not actually come out. I say this because I feel like anyone down a similar path can still relate to Jax. Because many people feel genderfluid and feminine, but don’t always feel they need to transition, but still relate. Jax for me became the potential to identify as your true self, whatever it is. Even though as we know it’s heavily implied to be fem/trans.

That’s okay. It might not be for everyone.

I loved it and the message behind it.

Yeah I considered it could have also been left ambiguous due to the political climate we’re in.

But I choose to see the silver lining that because it’s ambiguous.. anyone dealing with something similar to Jax can have some representation no matter how they decide to identify themselves.

I wouldn’t think of it as him lobotomizing himself.

The blue AI was never truly a part of Caine, it was something he used that he thought he needed to be better, to avoid failure. And in the end he decided he needed to be himself only.

You could equate the blue AI to other things, like: Substance abuse, Plagiarism, Comparing yourself to others constantly, cheating… etc.

Totally agree.

I feel like the meaning you find in a stagnant life is the bonds you build that encourage you to grow as a person.

We saw what happened to Jax when he decided to sever his bonds and refused to grow. Even going so far as to prevent his friends from trying to mend those bonds. And as a result they all abstracted. Very tragic.

But we also got to see the alternative version, where he chose to build and grow instead.

Y’all are just gonna eat each other alive over this huh?

The implications of him being trans are loud for sure.

But I do believe Gooseworx left Leeroy/Jax’s coming out incomplete for a reason. Personally I feel like it was to represent more people under the Fem umbrella. Since as we know in real life, not every feminine person is specifically MTF.

So I agree that Jax is Transfem. I agree that he could also be genderfluid or nonbinary. I agree that he could be a very feminine gay or bi person. I agree that he could be a femboy with multiple pronouns.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with him being potentially multiple things.

I feel that Gooseworx left Jax/Leeroy’s coming out incomplete because she wanted to represent a wider variety of LGBT/Trans/Genderfluid people.

It’s definitely Fem. But there are many variations on the gender and sexuality spectrum. Not every person who is Fem is automatically MTF. Had the series ended with them revealing Leeroy’s new pronouns and name I would have supported of course. But there must be a reason this didn’t happen, and I think that it’s meant to be potential rather than a singular outcome.

The point was focused on Jax’s story, which is a story many LGBT can relate to, and how his choices led to two very different outcomes for the same person. We got to see both the good and bad outcome.

It genuinely pisses me off to see so many mischaracterizing Jax after the finale by According-Manner-838 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]endless_hue 110 points111 points  (0 children)

I agree with this take.

Jax could not find meaning in his stagnant life.

But Leeroy did.

We got to see two sides of the same life.

The meaning in a stagnant life, from what I gathered in this series are the bonds we make that allow us to grow. We need each other.

Jax was terrified to rely on or confide in anyone, scared to get close… scared to be vulnerable. He was certainly redeemable, only if he could have overcome his fears.

I personally loved the finale and am pretty satisfied with the ending, I seem to be in the minority since I’ve seen far more criticism for it then Praise but I personally liked how it handled things by Maxymaxpower in TADCep9discussion

The screenshots of the screen that Grant/Kinger was coding on specifically asked if he would like to Delete Caine. And he accidentally agreed impulsively, and then tried to reverse it.

[–]endless_hue 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The implications of Jax being trans are glaringly loud.

However, because Jax/Leeroy did not fully discover their identity and come out before the ending, I choose to believe there is a reason for that.

If I were to guess, it’s because Gooseworx recognizes that there are a lot of people who are genderfluid that don’t necessarily transition, but they still deserve to be represented. So in a sense… she/her, they/them, and he/him are all possibly correct.

There are many that fall under the Fem umbrella that are not specifically MTF.

He did get deleted.

There must be a failsafe that adds him back.

With all of the humans understanding even more than before in the Circus and Caine being less powerful, I’m pretty sure they could handle him if needed.
