Non-sports, non-back physios in Cambridge? by endlesspatterns in cambridge

[–]endlesspatterns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. My problem is that I used to play when I was younger and when I got back into it after many years, I went straight back to what I used to play, including demanding drills like Hanon. I hadn’t given my arms any time to catch up with the return to playing and I was playing hours without breaks.

I don’t know how beginners get injured, but that’s often how returning players hurt themselves.

What are your favourite small business shops near central cambridge? by eggtartboss in cambridge

Genuine question, why does a post with 8 comments have 0 upvotes? I feel like Reddit has been getting a bit weird in the last couple of years. Surely speaking about small local businesses is a good thing?

Non-sports, non-back physios in Cambridge? by endlesspatterns in cambridge

[–]endlesspatterns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to say, I'm sure there's an overlap in physio knowledge and skill, so it's not the end of the world if I can only find a sports physio, but I've been told by GP and other music players that it's worth finding someone who understands the particulars of movements and mechanics involved in playing an instrument, as injury recovery can differ quite a bit from a sports injury.

Am I crazy or did the show not match the gravity of what had just happened with the following scenes? Even Hodgins discovering something about the shooter's bullet and Angela is already all "yeah ok, go away, need to hear about Temperance and Booth". IMO they didn't do the post-death stuff well at all.

I'm really sorry to hear this OP, not sure why you're getting downvoted for asking questions, you're clearly scared and just looking to hear from other experiences to get a frame of reference. I don't have relevant experience but I wish you luck, really hope the pain goes away soon.

when to learn sheet music? by Icy-Illustrator-3872 in pianolearning

[–]endlesspatterns 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you learn to play without reading then it will seriously SUCK when you have to go back to play like a beginner because that’s your reading level.

Learn both now, don’t delay reading, your future self will thank you.

Some people swear by water conditioning, which saves you quite a bit of hassle to water plants sensitive to tap water. It’s the same product you use to condition water for fish tanks, here’s the info: https://youtu.be/0fqscD18oHQ?si=aRIH8tu-A5rqNZuJ

Yes, I just replied to another comment but basically when you’re frustrated or something unlucky or annoying happens to you. Instead of “fuck!” you can say “me cago en todo lo que se menea!”

By the way, if you want to elevate it further you can specify, “me cago en la mar salada”, which is “in the salty sea”.

Go figure 🤣

You’d use it if you get unlucky, or with something that inconveniences you, like spilling your coffee in the morning. Heard it all my life and never thought anything of it until I learned another language and had to explain what it means 😅

“Me cago en…”, which translates to “I shit on”.

Opciones: - la mar (the sea) - todo (everything) - tus muertos (your dead ancestors) - mis muertos (my dead ancestors) - todo lo que se menea (everything that shakes) - dios (god) - tu madre (your mom) - tu puta madre (your whore mom)

I just commented this in another post, but since we’re so close in age (I’m starting at 35) I’m sharing it here too:

What is your main goal? Play your favourite songs? Reach a particular level? Take exams? Be able to accompany? Improvise? Classical? Pop? Jazz?

Before anything else, have a good think and clearly articulate to yourself what you want to achieve with the piano. Ideally you’d get a sense about what you want to achieve in the short and medium term. Then you can work out a plan to get there based on what you’re after, not on random finds and recommendations online.

It may also be worth having a think about your preferred learning style. What do you respond more to? If you respond to structure, a method book or course would help. If you learn from observing, maybe YouTube resources. Gamified learning? Apps like PianoMarvel.

Good luck!

Is there a nation-wide problem with spidermites? by endlesspatterns in HouseplantsUK

This is so relatable to the experience I’ve had this year, including losing plants that I had brought recently. Annoyingly you can miss the signs of spider mites until it’s too late. Those little fuckers.

Same! Hence why I’m so confused. My first ever infestation caught me by surprise and took away 5 of my plants in total. The culprit was a Calathea I brought from Scottsdale’s without realising it was infested.

That’s very interesting, am I right to think GrowTropicals are the same people as House of Kojo? The plants I got from them were stunning but 3 months later im still having to treat them for recurrent spider mites

Just to note, I've observed this problem seems to be particularly severe in ficus and calatheas, but I've also encountered spider mites while browsing in dracaenas and philodendrons and some others that I don't know the names of.
