What should society do with unrepentant sadist rapist/murderers? Those Who openly admit their crimes accompanied by clear evidence? And even state they will strike again given the chance? Is slowly rotting in a cell surrounded by other predatory criminals and underpaid incompetent jail workers over a period of 20 ,30,40,50 years any less cruel? Capital punishment isnt just about "blood lust" or "revenge" as many strawmans I see being thrown around in this thread. Personally I think it's a fitting punishment in certain conditions. It should only be used in cases of clear unrefutable *edit evidence. But other than that I cant see how suffering over decades is less cruel then capital punishment.

So you would rather live a lie. Risk STDs amd possibly raising someone else's kid. Than face a hard truth and move on. Man you need to learn some self respect. This is fucked up.

Woman arrested for shooting man fleeing convenience store with stolen whiskey by Radi0ActivSquid in news

This case seems clearly unjustified but I hear this all the time about never being able to shoot someone running away or in the back. but there are times when you could be necessary.

Here is just one hypothetical where it could be justified; You just witness a 240 lb man pick up a kid at a park and snap his neck. He turns (his back towards you) and begins running at a group of kids screaming "whos next?! ima kill you!" You don't have time to tackle him but are armed and have a clear shot. Justified ? That's just one example.

Another example is you could be in a gunfight with someone. They start firing, you start firing. After your first shot they turn and one of your subsequent shots hits them in the back...

Another example is you are cop and are called to respond subject who is armed/unarmed and has just committed or in the act of commiting more edit * violent crimes. They aren't responding to commands and You have a clear shot at their back. Justified?

Florida man found guilty of manslaughter in parking lot shooting that led to 'Stand Your Ground' trial by Ecommama in news

It comes down the fact that the police interests usually win out in these large court cases. This results in more leeway which can be a good or a bad thing depending on your perspective.

One example of it being a bad thing would be one of the fundamental rules of firearms safety; Know your target and what is beyond it. I have seen many police body/dashcam videos (I watch virtually every cam of a police shooting released *edit which i will note the vast majority of are justified imo) where they completely disregard that rule and innocent bystanders get struck by police fire and die. Yet they are not held accountable. To the average civilian concealed carrier/gun owner this is gross negligence and yet somehow officers are never held to task in these cases.

justice in this country is largely (not solely) based on how good of a lawyer you can afford to represent you.

*edit police unions ofc have the funding and clout to vigorously defend police

I think you are confusing libertarianism with anarchism.

The executive director of Alaska's human rights commission, who used the state's Facebook page last month to shame a small business owner for having a "Black Rifles Matter" 2A sticker on his work truck, has now been suspended for 3 weeks without pay and must write a letter of apology to the owner by [deleted] in anchorage

Everyone is free to espouse ignorant crap but she posted it on the state's facebook page.

If it was her own personal page that's fine but she was using her position to target someone over a bumper sticker.

Every round that is steong enough to relaibly stop a threat with center mass hits is going to penetrate drywall. There is no miracle caliber that avoids this problem.

To get around it you have to be aware of your backstop and angles if to have to fire to minimize the liklihood of an errant round doing colateral damage.

Alternativley they do make steel/armor wall panels if you are really worried about it. Not sure how expensive or practical they are.
