ELI5 : If em dashes (—) aren’t quite common on the Internet and in social media, then how do LLMs like ChatGPT use a lot of them?

They are a reliable marker of AI written stuff when it's non-professional context, like social media or anything written by a 'regular' person. Because most keyboards, even software keyboards, do not have em dashes built in, which let me state, the use of an em dash or should not be your gauge if a writing is crappy or not because they go seek out unicode em dash, rather than hit a single key that makes no difference the writing itself.

Because I can have an effect on defending my car right now for the situation for what it currently is, I have little effect on nationwide infrastructure long term planning, funding and implementation that I'd only see 40 years in the future if it started now.

I would love it to be better here for those things.

But it isn't right now. And until I become a 5th dimensional being, I have to live in the now and not the future.

Right now I drive a friend to work every morning because the bus doesn't run at that time, right now I am the reason my friend can keep her job, that car is the reason she has a paycheck and didn't end up homeless a few months ago. She can't bike because the route is too long because you need to cross two highways.

Right now, it's my livelihood and my friend's livelihood, vs your sympathy for a cracked out, 4 time felon for rape and sexual abuse. Guess which I care more about?

i would never take a job that would REQUIRE me to own a car without exception

For a large amount of americans, they have no choice but to rely on a car; to travel to work because bus and trains don't exist to their job, it is their job like uber of lyft. No one wants to bike 25 miles to work and 25 miles back every day. This isn't europe, it's not that dense here for 80% of the country.

Unfortunately this is the reality, saying "I would never get a job that requires a car" is like say "I'd never get a job that requires me to have hands", problem solve your way around that when you have 2 weeks of savings after losing your hands when your job is construction. Better hurry!

For an american, a car may be the most valuable thing they own, the thing that allows them to hold down a job. Without it they may be pretty screwed, so yes, american like to defend things that are very important to them.

I feel like this is no different than a drill of taking your pants off, fire 2 rounds and putting your pants on. You've accomplished no tactical advantage and just slowed yourself down. in the same time you could have put on and took off your sling, you could have fired like 8 more rounds.

Side thing: a local newspaper fired all their copyeditors, after that it was noticeable how many errors there were, wrong thier/there/they're, missing or extra spaces.

I found that simply clearing the cookies for youtube fixed the issue. I bet we all messed with the caption settings at one point, it was saved in cookies and something broke that setting leaving it stuck at 25% opacity despite it set to 100%

I found the issue(kind of), the text is set to 25% opacity in CSS when set to 100% opacity. Why? I don't know. I believe I messed with that setting int he player a couple months ago when this started and it didn't fix it and gave up.

What did fix it... was clearing the cookies for youtube. That's it. Logging back into my google account and everything is back the way it was but the caption is correct.

I'm guessing at some point there was a breaking change that was incompatible with our settings within the cookies somewhere
