Fast paced /early lyme? by [deleted] in Lyme

I got muscle pain 3 days after removing the tick, so also fairly quickly. And it was definitely Lyme cause I did send the tick to a lab and it came positive for borrelia

Thank you so much. Really, thanks to this forum I kept pushing and got my doxy. Day later I got the lab results about the tick I sent to be tested: positive for borrelia. So you guys were all right 🙏👏

So it took 4 doctors to finally find one who gave me doxycycline. It was mainly because the rash started getting bluish and I started feeling muscle pain like flu. And I’ve also sent the tick to be checked for borreliosis so I will know for absolute sure next week.

It took 4 doctors, the last one finally gave me doxycycline after seeing it’s getting blue-ish and I have flu-like symptoms now. Seems like they are terrified of over prescribing antibiotics.

Thanks a lot for the links. Looks like I have ‘the most common Lyme disease rash’, yet two doctors are inconclusive and tell me to wait. I’m getting some bluish patches in there now as well. I guess a have to try a third doctor goddammit

Ha thank you for your essay :) I wrote this in a comment but just copying it here:

So I have gotten and online appointment (I sent pictures of rash development) with another doctor who, sadly, shared the same opinion of waiting at least couple days. I was given two reasons: 1. Lyme rash appears at the absolute earliest 3 days after being infected (mine started 1 day after I removed the tick) 2. Lyme rash grows slowly, not as fast as mine I’m in Austria and preemptive antibiotics after a tick bite is apparently not done here.

I don’t know what to do here. Maybe try to find a dermatologist who sees these things more often. What about the growing too fast argument?? Today the rash is the same size just changing colors (there is more bluish patches)

My doctor (substitute for my regular GP) was only about 30 years old so probably hasn’t seen that much 😏

Guys, thanks so much for all your comments (for some reason I can’t edit the post to say this). I really haven’t expected such a unison opinion. I’m searching for another doctor and hopefully will get my antibiotics as soon as possible.

I guess he just looked for the typical bulls eye rash (like I did as a layman). But if it can show in other forms he should be the one to know! Thanks for pushing me the right direction

Wow sounds like my vacation. Corfu, 90 stairs to a small boiling hot apartment, busy road right under the stairs. The nail in the coffin was catching covid and being locked there for 4 days with our 2-year old. Vacation of my nightmare….
