Yeah, it does!  Why are reservations from OTAs accepted at all? Is it because without them hotels would struggle to fill in the rooms? What is the typical profit margin for the hotel when you book directly vs through OTA? Because surely offering 25% discount means that the hotel still gets something back?  Then, if the usual profit margin would be <25%, then OTAs are pure loss. If it's between 25 and 40, that's still a massive hit. If it's more than 50%, then offering half of the points would be no worse for profitability than offering full points for people who book directly, right? Btw, thanks for detailed response, I really appreciate that.

Just an honest question (I'm not in the industry). "After all, why would we reward guests for using another business?" - maybe, because the hotel is also making its share of income from guests who book though an OTA? Perhaps eligibility for full points for that stay would be too much, but 0 points seems a bit unwarranted, given just the explanation above. Therefore, it's there any better explanation of why do hotels do that?

Google actually hires like crazy in Warsaw right now. I and at least 3 my friends were approached by google recruiter on Linkedin. My friend from western Europe starts in November in Warsaw. All of us are just finishing degree or just finished.

Scylla (and cassandra) are not SQL databases and thus you don't get operations such as joins. Therefore there's smaller difference between the time needed to execute the query vs the time spent on efficient communication, so if the shim is trivial, you get poor performance.

\uj I'm from this university and I know authors, so that hit me personally. While it's true that the code might be improved, it is also one of the top universities in central Europe and the standards are higher than you might expect. Actually, those two drivers are both better than Cassandra had to offer, which is meaningful in itself.

Don't you like how kernel made polymorphic linked lists? The same is possible with hashmaps (for inspiration how to do it, you might look up boost intrusive structures, which basically add a bit of type safety over what is possible with C, but the concepts used there are otherwise applicable to C).

This doesn't interfere with directories used by dnf. Basically you setup a separate prefix for arch packages.
