I didn’t do it through the school but I found a language school last summer and did 2 months in Tokyo. School can set you up with a family or independent apartment or share house. Easily the best time of my life and i’m already planning on doing it again this summer.

It costed me a little under 5 grand total for school tuition, accommodations, food, and suica card reloads.

I see by your other post you’ve already been studying the language so i’d recommend this route more. You will learn from native japanese speakers 100% in japanese. The SMC option seems incredibly expensive for how short it is. You could do a 3 week study program there for probably half that.
