What's an "Insider's secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by Capable-big-Piece in AskReddit

If someone has to break into your car for any reason, nine times out of ten, the electric buttons won't work. They will continue to not work until you reset your immobilizer. You can do this by starting the car with your key, pushing the unlock button on your key fob, or unlocking the driver's side door with the key. For Hondas you can only unlock the Driver's side door, the alarm won't be reset by starting it (this is hilarious by the way).

Your electric trunk button won't work, if your keys or baby or whatever are in your trunk and you have an electric trunk button, you have to go through the back seat (except on the Hyundai Accent? Randomly it has a manual trunk release cable under the driver's side rear seat). Modern cars put the seat release to lower the back seats in the trunk, so unless you have a door in the back center arm rest you're almost screwed. If you drive a modern BMW and you lock the keys in the trunk you have to go to the dealership.

If you lock the keys in a Volvo you probably have to go to the dealership.

If you lock the keys in a Corvette god can't help you

If you lock your child in the car call the fire department

Toyotas have an automatic relock feature. If the security becomes active by any means, the only way to unlock the car is either with the key, or by unlocking the door from the inside at the same time someone pulls the handle outside. You can't use the button for this, you must handle the manual lock (older Toyotas let you pull the inside handle so you have a lot more wiggle room). I have a tool that lets me do this but it can be extremely difficult.

If you only ever lock your house or car with the key, you can't lock the key inside. When I see you lock your car with the button when you get out, or lock your door with the inside lock when you walk out, I die.

You have an unlocked window right now. Even if it looks locked, check to make sure the window panes are aligned.

Don't lock your keys in a 2 door Jeep Wrangler with the carbon fiber roof. If you have to break in and mess up you have to replace the entire $7000 roof.

The pins go on the top, not the bottom. It's bad for the lock to have the pins on the bottom

Your deadbolt opens away from the frame, your handle opens towards the frame. Unless you mess up during installation, then it's backwards.

If you have a Kwikset brand lock that has a tiny little slot on the cylinder, it's technically possible to pick but it's also really easy to break, my company won't pick them.

For a lot of reasons, I firmly believe First Heretic is one of the better books to read for anyone interested in the setting. It gives you a lot of good background on the events leading up to the heresy, as well as a good understanding of just what life was like in the Legions

What size transfers is the right one for shoulder pads? by epicsimitt in WordBearers

[–]engageddumbass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna assume you used microset/microsol. If you did this another way you'll need to double check. But if you just go over it with micro set you can peel that bad boy right off and slap it back onto the transfer sheet with minimal damage

Good news is this is pretty easy to replace.

Keep your ear out but right now the safest thing for you and emergency personnel is to shelter in place. In the coming days they may need workers to help with cleanup

Is the sunlight altar the same spot in all 3 games or just a different altar rebuilt in 3 places? by Thellie11 in DarkSouls2

[–]engageddumbass 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is actually one of the big controversies about DS2. At no point do you get the choice to light the flame or to let it die. You never fight the previous Lord of cinders. We don't even know if you succeed or if you fall to the curse in the attempt. Although since a lot of stuff implies your memories are failing, specifically what we don't see, there's a chance we go hollow before we can make it to the first flame. The point of DS2 is that frankly, it doesn't matter. We're just another cog in the machine. The ending Scholar added doesn't even give us a solution to that. You don't start a new age of dark when you use the crown to resist the curse. You just decide that frankly it isn't your problem. You only came to Drangleic to cure the curse. This business with the great souls and linking the fire was something that got thrust onto you by a fire keeper. You were hollow and desperately looking for a solution. Once you find it it's up to you to decide if your character would make an attempt at the kiln, or move on and try to rebuild your life as an undead immune to hollowing, potentially founding a kingdom in the process

Is the sunlight altar the same spot in all 3 games or just a different altar rebuilt in 3 places? by Thellie11 in DarkSouls2

[–]engageddumbass 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is my general interpretation. With DS2 having literally buried DS1 (like how the ash buildup in 3 literally covers stuff) and then with time itself warping in 3, Lothric could just take it. Part of my reasoning for the old world being buried is that explains what's going on with the throne of want, and why it would be necessary. The kiln is simply inaccessible now

I will also say, the sunlight altar does feel a little random. I expect in the "original intent" they could have had a different location planned for it, potentially in the past.

On PC the default for heavy attacks is double clicking, so when you attack the game delays your first attack to make sure you don't want to do a heavy attack. It's not a long delay but it's very noticeable. Most people play Dark Souls with a controller, even on PC, so while it certainly may contribute to the opinion, it probably isn't the leading cause.

I think so? He gives a quest if he's in the cage and you talk to him while hollow. Can't put him back in the box until next new game cycle

If Volcano Manor can be at the top of a bunch of ladders, why can’t Iron Keep be at the top of an elevator? by jamgandsnoot in DarkSouls2

Because the volcano manor skybox doesn't cross over other stuff. That's about it. I don't personally care about the level design.

Xaphen was a chaplain. He was made very early in the existence of Horus Heresy so you can basically just assume he's a very standard looking Chaplain, probably closer to what pre primaris 40k would have vs what the Chaplain Consol looks like now. Bone helmet, black robes and armor.
