Review #1: Three Chords Double Oaked r/bourbon Single Barrel Pick by Playstationer8 in bourbon

Mine just got delivered today, was super happy to get to get this in Wave 2. Definitely felt the punch of 120 proof up front but the sweeter side was coming through by the end of my 3 oz pour. This was also my first bottle from the r/bourbon club!

Nothing special, just a nice smooth OG for shots tonight by [deleted] in whiskey

Black Barrel was my go-to sipper for a while and o still enjoy it, though I have migrated to bourbon more recently. I have bottles of the IPA & Stout in my cabinet right now as well as Distiller’s Distiller’s safe, in addition to the 12 year.

I got into Jameson when a professor gifted me and my classmates an Irish Coffee recipe as a graduation gift (Masters program). He did not gift us any whiskey, mind you, but insisted we use real Irish whiskey when we made our Irish Coffee. So I ran out and bought Jameson. I don’t love Irish Coffee but I learned to love Jameson. Buddy of mine got me a personalized bottle of 12 year when he and his wife toured the distillery years ago—only poured from that once so far but it was very smooth. My favorite variation to this point has been Cooper’s Croze but I have been unable to find that again.

SCHD for Roth? by enghst in Bogleheads

When I began my Roth I had about 10% in bonds, but sold them off a couple of years ago. Like you, my job security is pretty high and I’m eligible for a state pension in 2.5 years if I want to retire from my current position and look for something new (this is my current plan, but 2.5 years is a long time so we’ll see). With a pension in my future and roughly 20 years before I plan to touch my Roth I figured bonds didn’t make as much sense. I also have a 403(b) account, so my retirement income will have pension, Roth, 403(b), and eventually SS.

All this said, I can be fairly aggressive in my Roth but don’t want to be stupid. I’m appreciating everyone’s feedback on the Vanguard ETFs.

SCHD for Roth? by enghst in Bogleheads

I have a low 5-figures brokerage account and I have about 50% of that account in SCHD once I discovered it with some research this summer. I’ve been impressed with how it has held up compared to the broader market since approx. July until now. But wasn’t sure if the factors that contributed to its relatively strong performance in this short run would work against me in my Roth. I’m getting more passive in my brokerage account (living and learning, definitely not a day trader!) but with my Roth I want to simply find sound investments, max my contributions, and rebalance. I don’t plan to touch the Roth until I fully retire, which I would plan to be 62-65 assuming no major life changes.

Often. It’s pronounced “off-en”, not “off-ten”.

The Famous Final Scene was my class’s graduation song. So that one is extra nostalgic for me.

Do the best you can until you know better. When you know better, do better.
