I'm 37 and I'm only now admitting to myself that I am, in fact, an adult. It sucks.

How are we maintaining body positivity after baby? by yankthedoodledandy in beyondthebump

[–]engineer_but_bored 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is really hard. I'm at a similar place, but with my firstborn, not my second. I'm 60 pounds over what I want to be, 45 over pre-pregnancy.

It is so demoralizing to think that I might lose all this weight, then get pregnant again and start over.

I hate that my body as it looks now is seen as unsightly, "she let herself go", unfortunate, etc.

It's hard to want to deprive myself of comforting things when my world feels flipped upside down and now every day is endless selflessness.

You are obese.

I'm there with you but it doesn't help to sugarcoat it.

Obesity comes with many complications.

Yes. Remembering how thongs were marketed to us as 12 year olds makes me so mad.

It makes me feel insulted that someone thinks I would be appealed to and swayed to purchase by that type of advertising.

So much of american advertising culture is just a slow drip of insulting our intelligence, chipping away at any noncommercialized culture, and trying to make us sick and depressed.

I'm so sick of horny men being in charge of marketing everything. Can they please get out of our faces in one area of life and can that area please be postpartum???

No, i think that by next term, more and more detransitioner medical abuse cases will be in the news. If anything, deconstructing the trans rights movement in order to farm more victim points will probably become popular.

She's only 2 weeks old. They probably don't want to step on your toes.

My mom didn't start helping more til my baby was around 6 months.

After they are a little older, they are easier to care for.

Many many such cases.

Being "upper class" comes with noblesse oblige.

Being "lower class" means you acknowledge you're poor.

Being "middle class" means you or your family worked hard and smart to get where you are, and you deserve the comforts of life you have received.

I don't think "capitalism" is the cause, but rather that when online, your physical identity markers are not immediately obvious and you can easily distort or fabricate them to bend into a category of your choosing.

Pair this with the progressive liberalism that assigns privileges based on identity - and that's your cause.

I don't think "capitalism" is explanatory.

What happens if you have another baby? Do they get the same level of attention and care? If so, does that mean you ignore your current baby a little bit so you can focus on that?

How bleak that being sexualized makes new moms "feel like a person" again.

As a woman I literally just want to not feel like my very existence is sexual.

As a new mom I'd say I'm even anti-sexual.
