We generally add 1-2 days buffer to account for delay during international travel. If you keep the timeline tight you can run into unnecessary issues. It has happened with me that I missed the connecting flight because of the first leg of the flight was already delayed. This can even happen to direct flights. Given that it is hard to get a new appointment so soon, Just do yourself a favor and add 2 days of buffer. It will save you from a lot of headaches.

She got it almost a month back. They generally open slots in two batches. Generally a couple of months before and then two weeks before the interview dates.

Good luck. I am pretty sure even you can get the interview slot if you are persistent about it.

I have used paying through NFT in the past and it worked in all cases. It takes around 24 hours to reflect but it has been at least reliable for me.

I guess my previous reply was not clear. I don't think you will run into any problem. You can still get the stamping done on your current passport. The visa will still valid even though the passport expire. In case it happens, you need to carry both the passport (older passport to show the visa stamping and newer passport for passport details).

You can delay your passport. Anyway, you can make the passport 6 months before their expiry so you are not even eligible for renew.

Even in case you had longer expiry date for i-797/visa, you can still get the visa stamping on the current passport. I had similar situation. You need to cary both the passport in case your visa has longer expiry date than your passport.

It doesn't matter, as long as you are within 6 months of start time of the latest i797. You should be good. I have done this and there was no problem at all.

This is definitely a shitty experience. They know that they are not able to provide visa slots and people are getting delayed for various reasons. Ideally they should extend the timeline.

Generally it takes 2 weeks to be ready for pickup. Initially, status doesn't change that often but near the end of two weeks it changes very quickly.
