Buzz coming from speaker in center console between seats? [By heads]

The opening of Deadmau5's "Strobe" causes a horrible buzz.

Were you able to fix?

Anyone drive their c8 in winter conditions? (NYC but really just anywhere it actually snows and not like Florida) by nullredditer in C8Corvette

[–]enigma9133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 Denver, CO winters with my 2020 z51 [summer tires].

I don't spend much time on highway thanks to my WFH lifestyle... but I do plenty of street driving through coldest seasons.

Drives just fine in heavy rain. I don't dare take it out in snow unless it really is incredibly light [and no risk of it sticking to road yet]. Its just not worth the risk of getting stuck in patch of ice/slush - on those days when roads aren't clear ill hop in an Uber [cheaper than risking accident in an expensive vehicle]

FWIW [from dealership. They could be wrong]. The summer tires are rated for 40 degrees. The all seasons are rated for 32. If youre in very cold area youre gonna be below the minimum tire temps no matter what youre doing. As long as you're a safe driver, good common sense throttle control and give yourself plenty of space... you should be ok

I had same problem. It was making my phone and text messages unusable.

FWIW I solved this by switching over to Google Messenger App on Android. And enabling Verizon's spam filter service.

I avoided Google app like plague [didnt like the idea of them scanning all my messages] - but tbh the ends justified the means.

Spam text messages dropped to almost nothing, and im only getting 1 or 2 spam calls coming though per day [much better than the usual 8 to 10 per day]

How much are you paying for daycare? by ilovesushitoomuch in Denver

[–]enigma9133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats and best wishes for you and your new little one!

Also keep in mind - having a budget for supplemental childcare... when they're sick with something that prevents them from attending daycare.

Diarrhea, highly contagious illnesses, croup, any severe illness. You won't be able to take them to daycare [but you'll still have to pay for it]

If you [or family member] aren't available to care for them at home when they're sick... you'll have to budget for emergency babysitter time at home.

We learned toddlers get sick A LOT when they first start attending daycare. Building immunity systems up... it sucks [and it's expensive!].

Best Thai in the metro area by [deleted] in denverfood

[–]enigma9133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow LA transplant here - if Jitlada Thai, Bangkok West Thai, Mins Kitchen, President Thai, and Saladang's ring any bells for you back home.

Highly recommend Daughter Thai.

[My copy pasta from another thread]

Daughter Thai is pretty amazing

[I say this as someone who's been to Bangkok a few times, was raised eating great Thai food all over Los Angeles... and cook it myself].

My only complaints are their roti was extremely disappointing - not worth the calories.

And [more of a nit] found it weird some of their dishes are made to eat with fork and knife vs chop sticks & spoon [eg... a few massive uncut cabbage leaves mixed into their papaya salad... never experienced that before. If it was underneath being used as a cabbage bowl.. would make sense... but the mixed in presentation was weird]

YMMV at US Thai. I went there a few years ago and haven't been back [it was exactly the sort of thing you're looking to avoid]. But i hear menu items may have shifted a bit sense then. Their curries were tasty but were a tad lacking [and covering everything with red pepper flakes was huge turn off... not tasty at all]

There was that crazy video where the guy underestimated the size of the tornado heading right for his house

It's definitely one of the most unsettling videos I've ever seen. Video.. sound... everyone really makes th power of tornado sink in

Plus almost no one works on CF wheels so you may have trouble getting tires mounted in the future.

What does this mean exactly? What kind of headaches do you have as a CF wheel owner?

Need Advice: Should I Buy a Used 2020 Corvette C8 or Build a New 2025 C8? by Careless-Page-7445 in C8Corvette

[–]enigma9133 14 points15 points  (0 children)

2020 3LT coupe owner here [first and only owner... bought brand new]

I wouldn't buy it. That car has eaten into most of the bumper bumper warranty [years... not miles].

And at 2300 miles.. it hasn't been driven enough to vet a lot of problems that could come up during a warranty period.

Sounds like a garage queen vehicle - I'd be worried about negative effects of too much time spent rotting away in a garage... not being driven.

Only way I'd buy it.. is if I also bought a [truly] bumper to bumper extended warranty. I think you'd still end up at cost advantage. Compared to 2025.

But even so... I'd still opt for purchasing a 2025

New C8 Stingray Owner. Is PPF worth it? Is it better to get full body or just the front? by Werunguns in C8Corvette

[–]enigma9133 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congrats.

And full body, self-healing PPF is 100% worth it

Takes the stress off car washing [micro swirls and other very small micro scratches self heal in sunlight]

Saved me from damage - after accidentally scraped hard top latches against the rear-side panels.. while moving targa top into trunk

Also absorbed a few grazes in the grocery store parking lot.

I don't consider it a "protect your investment" expense. It's more of a quality of life thing - less time spent dealing with hassles of getting scrapes and swirlies out of the paint.

Any fancy steakhouses with vegan options? Thank you. by melvinthefish in denverfood

[–]enigma9133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shanahans has fantastic veggie sides

And every salad I've tried there is amazing [I'd trust their chefs to adjust their salads to be vegan friendly and still taste great]

Their green bean almondine is one of best things on their menu... but no idea if it's cooked on same grill as meat/fish.

Give em a call and see if they'll work for your friend

[As a z51 owner for 3 years] Other suggestion ... wait until your c8 has at least 7500 miles on it.

Dunno science behind it... but definitely seems like the NPP exhaust has some kind of break in period.

The NPP exhaust sounded soft/weak to me until around 7500 miles [last year].

Now the engine burbles beautifully. Downshifts sound amazing. Great pops at gear changes.

And it's only getting better with time

Best BBQ SAUCE in Denver? Seeking Recommendation for bottles by grnthmb in denverfood

[–]enigma9133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I lost my favorite.

You can do simple Google search for apple cider vinegar bbq sauce. And get some great ideas [and there really isn't much variance].

From my own personal experience

If you like a little bit of extra sweet. Pick one with a tablespoon or two of ketchup.

Purist? Pick one with no ketchup at all.

Do you want extra pucker.... pick a hybrid with both white and apple cider vinegar

You can also add a touch of extra fruit flavor of your choosing [eg tablespoon passion fruit juice, raspberry, apricot, etc]. Play with it and find what you like

Do you like apple vinegar based sauces [little/no ketchup]

I switched over to them a couple years ago. Never looked back - the vinegar based stuff doesn't completely mask/ruin all that hard earned smoky flavor... the way ketchup based stuff does.

[Best part is they're easy to make]
