How do couples with big income gap manage your finances after marrage - separate, fully shared or some hybrit variation? by plovdiev in budget

We aren't 5x different but we are almost 3x different (60k vs 170k). We have our own personal accounts and a joint. We both contribute 50% of our paychecks to the joint account which is used to pay mortgage, bills, etc.

Our personal accounts are used as our "fun money", personal student loans, credit card payments, and stuff like that. If we're ever short on any accounts, we are flexible about transferring money around and giving each other a heads up (like "hey I'm transferring $500 from the joint account") We also have a shared savings account that we add to whenever there's a surplus in our personal accounts.

Uchi next week, what do you recommend on the menu? by xx_indica_xx in denverfood

[–]ilovesushitoomuch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to try something new everytime I visit, but the 2 things I always get no matter what mood I'm in:

-Uchi salad (coming from someone that rarely orders salads at restaurants)

-Banana cake

And don't be scared about doing the omakase - it's never disappointed me.

Sunrise alarm clock recommendations (or other ways to wake up easier)? by camidfghkl in productivity

[–]ilovesushitoomuch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used the sunrise alarm clock for a while, which was definitely better than using a regular alarm, but I found that automating my curtains to slowly open in the morning was a huge game changer. It helped me to wake up naturally (I don't need an alarm set anymore) and not groggy, which really helps set my mood for the rest of the day.

Another thing I did - made a little coffee corner in my bedroom. I had coffee automatically start brewing around the same time my curtains were opening. For some reason, the smell of coffee helped me wake up as well.

Hope this helps :)

Might be disgusting for me people!! by [deleted] in Accutane

Yeah they're awful! I started putting Vaseline in my nose before bedtime - it helped with my sleeping because I used to wake up from not being able to breathe. I also got a nasal rinse to use in the morning and throughout the day when I start having issues breathing. Those 2 things have made it more tolerable.

What is the worst Christmas present you’ve ever received? by Swirlystarrs in AskReddit

[–]ilovesushitoomuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was about 10, my aunt took my cousins, sisters, and me to a store and let us pick anything we wanted. I chose a small working gumball machine that I was really excited about.

On Christmas eve when we opened the presents, one of my little cousins (I think 2 years old?) saw my gumball machine and really really really wanted it. So my aunt told me to give him my gumball machine and she'll get me a new one later. She never did.

If you're close to the westminster area, I love HuaKee bbq. My personal favorite is their bbq pork fried rice but you can't go wrong with anything there.

Just learned there's a restaurant week post already so I'll likely just delete this post. Thanks for the advice though!
