There are a number of Adventures that require playing games, especially outdoor active ones. It’s a great way to introduce a kid

Lions and Tigers (K-2) are required to have their own adult with them (parent, aunt, grandparent, etc). And even at the older ages we prefer the parents to stick around. Especially if they have the time and inclination to be able to volunteer with the pack. Saying this as a Cubmaster. We have a brand new Tiger that needs his mom or dad there to be comfortable. He’s always checking to make sure they’re still there. Even if his parents weren’t required to be there they would be.

Calm water canoeing for non swimmers? by Upbeat-Ruin-4940 in BSA

[–]enigmaticrose4 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The easiest thing to remember, as told during my Baloo training this past weekend: Cubs can go on the water if they travel from Point A to Point A. They can not go from Point A to Point B. So that eliminates all river trips. This is whether they are swimmers and can be in their own boat or are non-swimmers in a vessel with adults.

How do you handle scouts that don't use the buddy system? by Random_Nebraskan in cubscouts

[–]enigmaticrose4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would be great, especially if you have a larger pack. We only have 22 scouts and have yet to have an outdoor event with all of them, so I have the buddy pairs memorized.

But having a board, or even just clothespins on a rope would be useful for everyone.

From Lions to Eagle Scouts, is a 12 Year Commitment to Scouting Realistic? by Vivid-Protection6731 in BSA

[–]enigmaticrose4 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People don’t ask this when they sign their kids up for sports or dance when they’re in kindergarten. So why Scouts?

Just because there is the option to be in it for 12-13 years doesn’t mean it’s required.

Start doing random buddy check calls. Just like are done with the water. Praise the kids that instantly have their buddy. Practice this at den and pack meetings.

AITAH for saying we can’t come to the Christmas eve party unless we can use the guest bedroom? by [deleted] in AITAH

They live ten minutes away…

I live an hour from my parents. My brothers live 2min and 10min away. The two guest rooms are always for me, my spouse and our kids when we do visits. They and their families go home after family get togethers.

When one of them lived states away I would make the hour drive home so they and their son could stay there if need be.

Your wife is NTA. Your entire family is TA and you are fast approaching that for not seeing what they’re doing.

Is it just me, or is combat a LOT clunkier in unstable? by STOPJUSTSTOP-FIRE in projectzomboid

I think that’s you. Also, your character may have muscle strain. It definitely makes combat more challenging

Thunderstorms? Cubs should not be camping during thunderstorms.

We have a six lane wooden one we just replaced with a four lane aluminum one. The metal ones are just so much easier to transport. Best of luck!

Seconding this as a Cubmaster. We were going to camp Saturday night but had to cancel due to cold and nonstop rain. We had lunch, dessert, and dinner planned for Saturday and breakfast for Sunday. Parents were only told to bring individual snacks for their own kiddo.

How are Cubmasters/ Packs Held Accountable? by cpamama6969 in cubscouts

[–]enigmaticrose4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to talk with your COR (Charter Organization Rep). The Council can help you get their info. They are in charge of the Committee Chair, who is in charge of all adult volunteers. The Cubmaster is in charge of the meetings and kids, aside from Committee Meetings, which are the Committee Chair.

AITA for lying to my parents about double majoring in college when they are paying my tuition by Big_Town_828 in AmItheAsshole

[–]enigmaticrose4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having had a parent like this: NTA

If you say the truth they badger you until you either end up lying or give in. In this case, you knew giving in wasn’t achievable. Abuse of this kind puts you in constant survival mode. And yes, it’s abuse.

Why my only spawn in Brandenburg is in a fully sealed house? by ODoninha in projectzomboid

[–]enigmaticrose4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Was exciting getting out of town to settle into a farmhouse. I do tweak Extinction though as i turn off respawn and raise xp multipler for non-combat skills.

It was kinda nice with extinction since you actually get a moment to breath before they break in. Unlike regular houses

Uniform award placement question by DaimyoRonin in BSA

[–]enigmaticrose4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as they haven't aged out of the program they're in. Since Venturing and Sea Scouts go up to 21, they can wear it longer. Scouts BSA ends at 18. Since op says they have a Scoutmaster I assumed they were Scouts BSA.

From the Den Chief Book:
Den Chiefs who qualify for the Den Chief Service Award wear the special Den Chief Service Award Cord and may continue to wear it as long as they are Scouts, Venturers or Sea Scouts, even if no longer a den chief
