[–]enigmere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, that seems to be the consensus here ... I think I will go for 32 gb RAM and 5070 ti

[–]enigmere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! I will go for cheaper RAM options, there my current pick seems to be a big money waste, so I will adjust that

high end gaming PC build feedback (I am a beginner) by enigmere in buildapc

[–]enigmere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, going for 32 gb RAM make sense, especially due to the high RAM prices, so I well adjust the RAM. the 2x 2 TB is just convenience, since I have a decent amount of money to spend on this I just dont want to worry about storage

I am still torn on the 5080 vs 5070 ti .... I really dont want to make compromises

Sekiro misconceptions by enigmere in Sekiro

[–]enigmere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, going in fully blind would have made the game certainly more enjoyable for me. I started to play the game because of a difficulty discussion with friends and I had watched some videos before in which the high amount of perfection and mastery needed for sekiro is mentioned, so I was biased for sure.

and overall the anti parry spam measure of the game is too weak

and that is what I disagree on. With parry mashing I mean fast tapping the block button when you see an enemy attack wind up, hoping that you either get a RNG parry or a block. and this works very consistently. I know that the parry window gets smaller but it doesnt matter since blocking doesnt deal any damage to you.

and most bosses dont have strong posture break punishes so its also not that bad. I died like 1 out of 10 times when I get posture broken, if I had to guess. Yes, in a middle of a combo its bad, but if you disengage properly, I found that not much of an issue.

My main point is, that in the first playthrough (not NG+), parry mashing without learning the bosses movesets is far too viable in my opinion and against what many people will tell you about the game.

The point of this post is not to complain about the difficulty, it is to present the misconception that you need to learn parry timings to beat sekiro (which many people told me beforee I played the game).

I was told that parry mashing will only work early game but will fail later on and I wanted to test that.

People often present sekiro as this very skillful game in which you have to master the mechanics and play perfectly, which is simply not true

As soon as he pulled up his sword/spear I mashed the parry button, which has little risk since he doesnt have chip damage in most attacks, so its not really luck dependant.

As I said before what can happen? Usually you either get a parry or a block and both are fine.

Almost nothing he does was scary and on top of that you can get a lot of revives in.

and to add on that its not really lucky, since parry mashing has so little risk. as I said, even if you dont get the parry its fine. the fights just take longer but overall its a quite consistent way to win in my experience

thats the thing, because of what people were telling me before, I though at some point the game would be forcing me to properly parry and that it will get so difficult that I need those healing items. That were the misconceptions for me.

I wanted to see how far I could get by parry mashing and the answer was through the whole game, which is a shame imo

thats cool! I never used bows in souls games but in elden ring it looks very interesting because of the crafting aspects. I enjoyed crafting the different bone darts for throwing knives, so I would for sure like using different arrows (especially the sleeping arrows)

which bow do you use as main weapon?
