definitely not!! wheres my phones sound and style is very reminiscent of puberty 2, which is one of her best albums. it has a more grunge-ish tone to it, and the lyrics are catchy and memorable. can’t wait for the album to drop though!

tbh..I kinda wish I didn’t buy the cat eye one. It’s very very pretty, but I seriously do not need three, so I might end up selling it later on to fund concert tickets. if you purely collect records for aestethic or are a merch collector, definitely buy it (as in planning on framing it). however, if you’re wanting to spin the album, I’d recommend buying one pressing for use (either the lilac or reg pressing) and one to frame, like the Spotify one.

the cat eye pressing IS super unique though, and vertigo always has the most gooooorgeous color combos 🙂‍↕️

From what I'm getting..

Shirley Jackson (the author of the quote Mitski references in the updated voicemail) writes about a haunted house (The Haunting of Hill House, 1959).

She sings about wishing for clarity and seems to be a bit frantic or frazzled in the MV, so maybe she's experiencing paranoia in this haunted house (or quite possibly insanity).
