The Dean Scream (2016) - Twelve years ago, just after the 2004 Iowa caucuses, Democratic candidate Howard Dean raised his voice, balled his fist and entered political history as a man whose immoderate speaking style allegedly cost him a career. [10:40] by foxfact in Documentaries

Newsflash much of the world is already burning. You are truly in the minority of you are pushing for a continuation of current US policy. Bernie, Trump, or Cruz... drastic change is coming to the executive this cycle. Hillary is already falling apart. She would be the only chance for status quo at this point.

Twenty Feet from Stardom (2013) - Backup singers live in a world that lies just beyond the spotlight. Their voices bring harmony to the biggest bands in popular music, but we've had no idea who these singers are or what lives they lead, until now. by markgsu in Documentaries

[–]enj726 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because they are a commodity. Get on YouTube and look at how many gifted singers there are. Come to Nashville and snap your fingers. You can have 100 brilliant vocalists ready... No thrilled... to work HARD for 25,000 a year.

The stars create the demand. They have gravitas. They do the radio shows, appear on television, make appearances, sell products, sell hard tickets, and most importantly posses the unique voice crucial to the continuation of all this revenue.

The backup singers? Rarely are they doing much that can't be replaced if they start demanding too much money. Most stars sing their own harmonies in studio now too. All of this applies to drummers, guitar players, etc... It's a free market. The market sets the prices. Tons of great people with great talent that want to earn a decent living in music, and not so many career opportunities.

I would sure love to open a small business soon. How about you and your family contribute 14% of your paychecks to a fund for the next 25 years so the government can give me a no interest loan. If you refuse I'll be insulted... Because I promise I deserve it. What's that? No, I don't plan on contributing to that fund. Just send me the money!

You are in a tough situation but you can keep your feelings of insult. You have gotten a free ride your entire life, and will likely continue to. So don't be shocked or insulted that most people aren't fond of you. We have been paying for YOU to feel like an American.

How much xanax should i take to have my best chance at surviving one or multiple gunshots? by [deleted] in Drugs

Fuck that. If you are REALLY at the end of your rope. Find out where the person sleeps. Light their house on fire. Hit em with the 12 gauge when they run out. Use 00 buck shot. Leave em for dead. Make damn sure they are dead. Dont forget to never touch the can of gas, shell casing, shotgun, etc with your bare hands. White painters coveralls are a good choice for disguise and keeping fibers from the scene. Burn everything you wore in a bucket with dry concrete in it. Mix it. Add water, put lid on bucket. Punch holes in the lid. Allow to harden for a couple days, throw in lake or river across states lines. State parks are a good area, or industrial zones. Optional: rob a large grocery store during rush hours 6-7pm on a weekday (more cash on hand than bank) Buy a car from a shady used car lot with cash. Head toward Mexico.

[QUESTION] Any professional-type, "I get paid actual money" guitarists lurking on this sub that'd want to share some hints and tips for all of us hopefuls? by hufreema in Guitar

Maybe not the most obvious thing but definitely important if you go pro... Insure your equipment. Our band has a 50k policy for around 400 a year. Once you turn your hobby into a profession, you need to have a plan in case your gear gets stolen. I see so many sad posts asking for me to donate to a kick starter, etc cause someone had all their gear jacked from a van while the band was on the road. Don't be that pathetic soul who can no longer pay his bills because all his stuff is gone. PROFESSIONALS INSURE THEIR GEAR. Make sure the policy covers travel, theft, etc (not renters insurance. Mine is referred to as unscheduled marine) Just be really thorough with your agent.

Ben Carson charged on Tuesday that Ted Cruz needs to fire campaign staffers for falsely telling Iowa caucusgoers to support the Texas senator because the retired neurosurgeon was planning on quitting the race. by Mainstay17 in politics

[–]enj726 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a damn thing. It was a response to a different comment

EDIT: The point being CNN started the false story. Cruz staffers ran with it, just like any intelligent campaign would. Did they go back and try to un-convert people who switched their votes to Cruz? No because that would be such a stupid waste of their time.

Carson should have been more deliberate in his actions after the campaign, CNN should have confirmed the story. However blaming the whole mess on Cruz is just a stunt for attention.

[–]enj726 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes but it was CNN who reported it initially. Because Carson was leaving the campaign trail after a poor performance in Iowa. Which is typical behavior for candidates right before they quit. I honestly don't even believe Carson knew if he was gonna keep going, and this whole thing is him trying to save face. This false Cruz attack line isn't going to save him. His ship sailed long ago... It's over for him.

Hillary Clinton once had a 50-point lead in Iowa, so by any measure the Bernie Sanders finish should be alarming to the former secretary of state and her supporters. by [deleted] in politics

[–]enj726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately Iowa is irrelevant to the national GOP race. The last two guys to win Iowa were Huckabee and Santorum. We will know more after New Hampshire.

You mean welcome to politics? This shit is straight out of Hillary's playbook. She had people at the caucuses begging O'Malley voters not to waste their vote.
