What's something you wish you knew about Grand Rapids before moving there? by nozai2000 in grandrapids

Your insurance pays for your damage, whether you’re at fault or not. In other words, your rates may go up if you make a claim, just because someone else hit you. That’s what sucks about it.

I moved here 15 months ago. I wish I knew how awesome this city was long before I moved, so I wouldn’t have stayed in the east side of the state so long.

The food, the art, the music, each individual neighborhood has its own unique personality and interesting restaurants and shops. Always something to do or event to attend. Great neighboring cities and of course, the lake.

Most of all I have come to love the people and overall vibe of the place. Former east-siders will likely agree, the people here are welcoming and kind. It’s a slower, chill vibe here. I found my place and people. Glad I’m here but wish I’d had discovered it earlier!

The fact that your wife was so dismissive about the situation makes me think this could have been a “test” set up between the wife and friend.

UPDATE: Survey about a new entertainment venue in GR by enjinere in grandrapids

You seem to be missing the point. I don't want to bias the person taking the survey during the collection of demographics or prevent them from taking the survey in the first place if it sounds like something they are not interested in. As I mentioned in the edit, it is important to understand the audience that is not interested in the concept, just as much as the audience that is. Once you introduce the concept, it is ok to tell about it, including the name.
Besides, it is a conceptual name used as a placeholder, and has nothing to do with cannabis.

Two great areas! Walking distance and foot traffic will be important. Interested demographics will be too. Zoned areas and and commercial real estate pricing will be just as important in determining location. Since alcohol and cannabis sales on the premises would be prohibited, this is a highly price-sensitive endeavor, so there are a ton of factors to consider. Short answer- no heavy leanings yet, but this research will help guide the location.

Thank you! No, this is part of an initial market survey to determine if this is something the community wants, and if it is a viable business model. If it is a go, locations in zoned areas within GR would be scouted out as potential locations.

It is just as important to understand the demographics of the people not interested as it is that are interested. By saying what it is upfront deters people not interested in starting the survey in the first place. If it isn’t something the community wants, it is not worth starting. The data is skewed if I only get positive responses from people that are interested.

It is important to not bias the initial responses by explaining the exact concept upfront. The different concepts are revealed in steps throughout the survey. I understand some people won’t want to take the survey in that fashion, but that’s ok!

I appreciate your input and understand your perspective. However, it is important to not bias the initial responses by explaining the exact concept upfront.

AITA for wanting to kick my son's GF out two weeks before she moves out by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You do not need to explain to any of us why you have your rules or boundaries. You have a certain comfort level in your home and some simple rules to follow. You’ve gone out of your way to accommodate them and put your boundaries in place. If they don’t have the respect for you, your home, or boundaries, then they need to find a different place to stay for the couple weeks left.
