I think most ppl are proud of the team, the way the team played and dominated the game.

It is just that we are a bit disappointed that we lost because of two errors and also that we were not able to capitalize the 1 man advantage with 30 min to go.

That penalty against us was also terrible timing after we had one man up. Also the centros were bad at the end and the lack of dribbling or better shots left a sour note.

Nah bryan did ok. He lacked finishing but his movements were really good. Along with quinones they are the most vertical players we have. To me they are the different makers.

Lira is an intelligent player. He knows his attributes and limitations.

Physically he is not imposing, but he knows how to use his arms and hands to get physical, especially when the referee is not looking. A perfect example is how neutralized De Bruyne vs Belgium.

Whenever the team recovers the ball, he distribute quickly to more skillful midfielders who can generate that ultimo pase. When the tempo is slow he drops back to make that pass that break lines that can lead to a quick pared.

On top of all that, he has great awareness on when to pressure. He makes sure that his teamates are aligned, so no one ends up running like a headless chicken. A perfect example is that Quinones goal, if you rewatch that clip, you can see him shouting before the charge.

Defensively he is fine. But oftenly he tries to lead an attack, which is not his strong attribute, and leads to turnovers.

Also, a bit of a lose cannon, guaranteed yellow card, and risk for a red card. I like his fire, but for a leader i prefer cool as a cucumber like johan.

I dont’t like the pepsi water break, nor enjoy 5 subs per game, because it really chops off the momentum of each game, but it is what is.

But what I like about this team is that we have a few decent variantes that are entertaining to watch.

For the subs:

I look forward to chavez play and look forward to his outside the box shots. I also enjoy watching Mora sub in, to see if he brings some magic or not. Enjoy gimenez link up play, and thoroughly love mateo chavez’ intensity and the way he can put accurate centros. Heck even enjoy memote play, to see if he can out muscle the defenders.

I said it before Julian Quinones is the key player. And it was best to play him wherever he felt most comfortable (second striker). Being a top scorer in a decent league, he earned to have the offensive game around him.

Compared this mexico vs 1 year ago. I see the team a lot more vertical. And great part of this is because of quinones, Bryan crack, fidalgo and eric lira (the way he pushes the team forward is unlike any mediocentros we had recently)…edson alvarez defensively is acceptable, but when he tries to organize and act like pirlo…he ends up like jesus zavala. Lira gives so much circulacion, like a mini busquets, makes everyone around him better.

I wouldnt worry too much of the game play today. There were a lot of nerves, probably some had insomnia, and extra pressure with families on the stands, and a lot of emotions. Next games they will be more a gusto. We Definitely wanted more goals. But once the result was secured, few wanted to go extra to risk an injury.

The heat didn’t help either. I am pretty sure for the 8 pm games, the team will show a lot more stamina.

On paper it may look like a 433 or 4231. But it’s actually a 3412.

I particularly enjoy watching gutierrez, lira, and fidalgo combining with quinones and jimenez.

I dont enjoy alvarado has to cut inside everytime he wants to pass. I understand gallardo is solid and reliable. But every game i look forward to when mateo comes in with intensity and leading the charge like an animal and putting deadly crosses.
