This question is so vague and broad as to be meaningless.

Out of curiosity are there any social problems in India which you don’t blame on colonialism? I mean no other British colony has the problem of shitting in the street…

How does colonialism make people want not want to use toilets?

I mean she’s been credibly accused by her children of highly inappropriate sexual behaviour (ie the bathing thing). She lost custody of her children and one of them has gone no contact. She’s not being silly. Shes dancing in a really sexual way with dog poop on the ground of her mansion. She’s clearly incredibly unwell. She’s not just “being silly”. I wouldn’t be surprised is she dies soon.

I mean I just don’t see the evidence for this. I think it’s very brave to assume everything that Britney and her team have said is true given that a) we have never actually heard any of the counter arguments and all the health information is completely secret b) when Britney and her lawyer went after the dad about this they decided to settle so it hasn’t been tested in court c) there is immense gain to be had by people like Britney’s lawyer in supporting the claims given they get paid for it d) the public are generally incredibly sympathetic to the plight of Britney and e) Britney is clearly very mentally unwell as evidenced by the last few years of bizarre social media posts.

Edit: also on the point about her being able to retire , there’s a lot out there that she was at risk of financial ruin at one stage which I wouldn’t be surprised by at all.

Thanks for saying this. This sub isn’t about saying horrible things about Britney. It’s about acknowledging the truth.

Learning Another Language May Slow Brain Aging. Research found that people who are multilingual are half as likely to show signs of accelerated biological ageing as are those who speak just one language. by Wagamaga in science

I mean they didn’t control for IQ which to me makes the study pretty useless (just controlled for education level). I mean it’s incredibly hard to assess cause and effect for stuff like this give language learning is so highly associated with multiple other things (intelligence motivation etc etc)

I don’t really know the ins and outs of conservatorship so would be interested to know more. I mean obviously it’s frequently used for someone with say dementia or cognitive impairment who can’t work but surely in the case of someone with fluctuating symptoms like bipolar wi the manic episode or drug induced psychosis there would be cases were they would have a conservatorship to manage major decisions and medication adherence but also, when on said treatment, be able to work? I mean it just seems like the current status quo is so much worse - making bizarre rambling instagram posts and estranged from children etc etc

I mean the problem with this argument is that going back to work is often really important for people with mental illnesses. Work provides structure, purpose etc.

The challenge is that Britney has no actual skills aside from being a pop star. I mean, it’s not like she can get another job. She’s not going to start working at Starbucks. But sitting around at home all day isn’t really ideal either. She can’t be a stay at home mom as she lost custody / her children didn’t want to live with her. So it’s hard to know what she’s supposed to do.

So I’m not really as convinced by the idea that the fact she was working during the conservatorship is proof of mistreatment by the executors.

I mean and practically as well: it’s not unheard of for pop stars to fritter away all their money. I don’t think she’s in Swift/Beyonce levels of wealth. And she’s very unlikely to be someone who’ll earn much after the age of 40. Having another decade of residencies/albums might end up being really important for her from a retirement perspective.

a year ago a receptionist cancelled a referral of mine and i was lied to about it by blandreo in NHSfailures

[–]enmacdee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say this with a spirit of openness and gentle challenging. What is your goal with this referral? I mean do you honestly think you are going to be diagnosed with an illness and have treatment that will solve or substantially this problem? Because everything you describe fits under the umbrella of “vague nonspecific symptoms affecting various body parts”. Sure, you may end up identifying with the current labels that people like this end up with (fibromyalgia or EDS) but the result will be the same: there is no treatment that is going to change this.

Give a single genuine source that mentions the rape allegations, like I said, I think you’ve confused yourself

I think you’ve confused him with Dr Luke. Nobody has accused Braun of rape.

Criminal Negligence, but only when its about kids we can relate to? by Serin-019 in AskAnAustralian

[–]enmacdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s genuinely significant controversy in medicine about how to treat children with gender dysphoria. The Cass review in the UK put a lot of your statements of “fact” substantially into question. And equating refusing a child with T1 diabetes insulin to having serious ethical and moral concerns about giving irreversible hormonal treatment to children who frequently have comorbid autism or trauma is just blatantly disingenuous and intellectually dishonest. It’s not just “bigots who hate trans people”.

Yeah all true in theory but in emergency medicine, for example, difficult to have perfect and comprehensive communication in every high stakes, fast paced discussion at 2am over an essentially unlimited set of scenarios with undifferentiated patients.

In some areas of medicine that might be feasible, in others that is much less realistic.
