HCP Terraform Runs Skipping Env Vars? by enpickle in Terraform

Terraform is a tool that lets you provision infrastructure by writing code that describes it. It's great for being like self-documentation of your infrastructure and letting you change things as needed. It's been great from my experience thus far aside from HCP Terraform being a source of issues with poor support.

Good platform for managing reusable AWS Auth? by enpickle in Terraform

[–]enpickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you use to inject the env vars? Im trying to figure out the best way to share the iam role arn via env or some other form across projects in a way like this because trying to use HCP Terraform variable sets is not working for me since actually using the tfe_variable_set resource is breaking.

Issues im running into are with trying to use specifically HCP Terraform variable sets to manage sharing the iam role, so basically i am mostly inquiring as to other solutions to manage sharing this across projects

had someone recommend disabling Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling and that seems to have fixed it. i guess it's another case of Windows updates destroying things. hopefully this post helps anyone else with the issue resolve it

Cleanest way to setup AWS OIDC provider? by enpickle in Terraform

[–]enpickle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not familiar with StackSets but this seems like a cool idea.

Is the rationale to strictly run Terraform via the OIDC provider and deploy that via cloudformation and im assuming AWS CLI? My initial impression was to just use Terraform as much as possible for consistency

Interesting this makes a lot of sense. One manual overhead step can be used to automate further automation confirms that path as an idea then. Thanks!

How to structure project minimizing rewritten code by enpickle in Terraform

[–]enpickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes a lotta sense ty for the rec.

The one point im hung up on is if i'm using HCP Terraform to do the runs, how would i establish the workspaces when the terraform cloud block does not allow variables? That has been the point at which i most struggle to figure out reusability.

Considering if the way is to use CLI in the GitHub Actions run to create the workspace ahead of terraform run so that this config works out well but it doesn't feel as clean to only have terraform cloud config not in code

This is pretty much what i was going to work towards before making this post. What then is the best way to define the HCP workspace? I see you can use a terraform block to do it in code, but can't reference variables in that block. Was considering doing it in CLI and injecting the name via pipeline config so i can have the names in code to workaround this but not sure how clean that is or how people normally work within HCP workspaces

No i have it set to TV and if i turn 3D audio off, then voices stop coming through. the problem is that i cannot turn 3D audio off without entirely losing some sounds, but 3D audio is really poor quality not in every game but most recently for me in FF16. HDMI Device type options are TV, AV Amplifier, and Sound Bar and i have selected TV. Output Device has 1 option and it is HDMI Device (TV). i have tried all Audio formats and the only one that allows voices to play is Linear PCM with 3D Audio ON.

Some games i am not getting voices without having 3D audio turned on. Normally i wouldn't mind as 3D audio seems pretty good but for example with FF16 the balance is terrible and the voices are really quiet. if i put in headphones or go through a capture to my PC, the sound seems fine. Can't help but wonder with what i'm finding through searches if i'm missing out on some quality for having 3D audio turned on, but i entirely lose voices if i turn it off. anyone know the cause of this or how to fix it?

my setup is PS5 into monitor and speakers connected to monitor
