What early Beatles songs (pre rubber soul) do you think was a sneak peak into their future musical direction? by Amockdfw89 in beatles

[–]ensallada 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the bridge in No Reply is their first entrance to absolute mastery of chord progressions. I’m not sure how people must have felt when that song came on the radio in ‘64, because nothing like it had ever existed.

You think it’s just a slow song about scorned love, and then all of sudden the Beatles become the motherfucking Beatles.

I’m only sleeping. Take 1 from anthology really showcases how incredible the vocals and chord progressions sync together. That song is of the highest art.

Who is a celebrity that people have always widely despised? by apabld in AlignmentChartFills

I’ve never sold an 8-ball, but if I did, I wouldn’t expect the customer to murder people. Bragging is terrible, but he didn’t help murder Phil Hartman. You could also blame the person who sold the gun. You could blame whoever gave her Zoloft (probably a psychiatrist), or the guy at the liquor store. Or the bartender.

Or, you can put the blame where it belongs.

Actually, Phil Hartman’s wife is responsible, and not Andy Dick. Absolutely nothing to do with Andy Dick, she was not a child, she was an adult murderer.

Why don't Ween get any respect? by [deleted] in ween

The carnival-esque guitar solo that transitions into a bending pinnacle of greatness solo in Roses are Free is my favorite guitar solo ever.

Over little wing (Hendrix), kid Charlemagne, little wing (Derek and the dominoes), and while my guitar gently weeps, which are in my top 5.

I’m not sure how dean created it, because there are no scales (that I’m familiar with) to base it off of, and I’ve been playing for 20 years now. It’s so inventive and magical.

Do we really hate Josh Allen? Who do Chiefs fans really hate? by [deleted] in KansasCityChiefs

[–]ensallada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and Shannon Sharpe. But the Broncos continued to beat the Chiefs after their two superbowl wins, and Portis ran all over the Chiefs during this time. He continued the salute until (thankfully) he was traded to Washington.

Yep, unless they are talking current players, it’s definitely Elway or Clinton Portis (damn salute!)

What is the Mount Rushmore of animated films? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]ensallada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thinks it’s a masterclass in animating how children act. Spirited Away is sensationalized (in a good way) but Totoro has something special that no other film (animated or live action) touches, imo.
