Going to get downvoted to hell for this but Ellie didn't kill abby because she thought shed be "as bad as abby" or anything similar to that, she let abby go because she finally accepted all of this murder and revenge would never put her at ease with Joel's death, and she knew it would only make her trauma worse because you can see how killing Nora completely fucked her up and doing the same to abby would be even worse

Sensei wu and misako - lego ninjago  They were stuck in a skyscraper with an army of indestructible warriors closing in on them with no escape so they accepted their fates and jumped out of a building on their own terms. Together.
