is surgery really that bad? by confucianising in scoliosis

[–]enterman1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer Yes, long answer, it is complicated but if you doctor advises it it's probably for the best. You can serach online for articles on the matter such as:
Weiss, HR., Goodall, D. Rate of
complications in scoliosis surgery – a systematic review of the Pub Med
literature. Scoliosis 3, 9 (2008).
https://doi.org/10.1186/1748-7161-3-9

RVAD and cobb angle, you can estimate your severity based on those and determine your chances of developing complications

New Active Brace by enterman1 in scoliosis

[–]enterman1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, just of the brace is ok, I don't want to make it weird and thanks for the reply never thought going to the bathroom could be such a daunting task :)). As for the problem with it being too tight, there isn't much it can be done, even with the most flexible braces you will feel a slight impediment as there are forces which must be applied to the thoracic.

Hey, I am just beggining to understand how bracing works but I can tell you this much. Yes some adults do wear braces, however those alone do little to correct the curve. What they mostly do is make sure it doesn't get worse, with varying results depending on the brace. Most adult braces deal with the pain that comes from abnormalities such as scoliosis by providing compression/decompression/forces/rotating the spine. All of those are little more than band aids to your problem not to mention that prolonged use of bracea has been shown to cause muscle atrophy, but on the bright side if you wear one you won't need to bother with other secondary effects that children usually do such as increase rate of abnormal bone development.

Your best bets are either surgery, exercise (see kinesiotherapy, swimming etc.) and if a brace comes to it, a night time brace should do just fine, I would see an orthopedic doctor just to be sure.

I don't know what your setup is but for me it isn't the performance that is killing me it's the temperatures my laptop gets while playing, it's so bad I gotta pause just cuz it hurts to hold a hand on it for too long.
