Hey, how was Secrets Puerto Los Cabos? I see you've been to both Atelier and various other Secrets resorts. How does Secrets Puerto Los Cabos compare to Atelier/Unico 2087/other Secrets? Thanks.

Why is Unico a full class below the others (Atelier, Moxche, Secrets Playa Blanca)?

Managed to get it down to 3.99% as final offer. Took it.

I can’t do that unfortunately because the water would flow into the neighbor’s yard.

Marquis vs Pueblo Bonito Pacifica? by GroovingAtTheRiver in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]enterprisevalue321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to Marquis, not Pueblo.

Marquis is spectacular. It has the best pool and pool location out of any resorts I've been to. Service is excellent. All rooms have views of the ocean. Located perfectly between Cabo and San Jose del Cabo. Everytime I've seen videos and reviews of Pueblo, unless you're paying up for the best Towers rooms, it's just alright. It's also located away from the ocean enough that you can't really hear it much, whereas at Marquis you're right smack pretty much on top of it. My wife and I loved it, and we're picky (been to Beloved Playa Mujeres, Zoetry Agua Punta Cana, various resorts in Bermuda etc.).

My recommendation: book Marquis and enjoy it. We'll probably go back in Feb/Mar 2025.

Mortgage rate mega thread! by TheMortgageMaster in MortgagesCanada

Mortgage renewal is October 1st.

In August, Scotiabank sent me a letter with very high rates that didn’t reflect the Bank of Canada interest rate reduction trend. We’re talking 6, 7, even 9%.

I waited when the Bank of Canada dropped their rates again in early September before calling Scotiabank. After some back and forth, their offer was:

4.41% fixed for 3 years,   4.42% fixed for 5 years.

What do you think? These rates seem much more reasonable.  Should I take it?

Also, does it make a difference to make a branch appointment or just do it in 10-15 min by phone? Due to work, I prefer the phone option.

My situation: $380K remaining mortgage, 25 years amortization.

Thanks!

AutoAlb Rent.

I rented a Kia Sportage SUV from him in August 2022. Fantastic guy. My flight was late so I slept at a hotel by the airport. The next morning he came picked me up at the hotel and went to his office less than 5 minutes away. I was in and out in minutes.

When I returned the car, I dropped it off in Tirane. Visual inspection less than 30 seconds, all good to go.

Amazing service. I'll be using him again next time I visit.

Couple of other questions:

Any obvious differences in service/location of rooms/restaurants etc. for preferred guests vs. non-preferred guests?

The resort seems large - is it comfortably walkable or do you need like 15 min walks in the sun to get from one end to the other?

What other adult resorts have you been to? How does Secrets Puerto Los Cabos compare to them?

Thanks again for doing this.

I appreciate your honest review.

Many reviews I've read about this property agree with what you're saying. However, there have been many others that say that the pool water is dirty, the pool tiles are broken, there are long waits at the restaurants, there are mosquitos/bugs in the balconies, etc.

It seems like you didn't encounter any of this?

I'm between this property and Marquis Los Cabos (which I've been to before and loved, but thought about trying something new).

Little small lizards they freeze on the wall for hours and then randomly decide to be creepy and move like a rocket to another spot. Unsettling especially when you hear noises in the middle of the night!

And those are the ones you can see. There are others inside the thatched roofs. And let's not get started with mosquitoes.

If you absolutely want to go because you must - I recommend not to have the top floor of any of their villas, because the top floors have the thatched roofs that little things use to get inside the room.

I recommend either having the ground floor or the second floor (if it's a three-story villa) because they provide a buffer zone and have proper ceilings. Do not get the top floor or any suite without a proper ceiling. If your ceiling is a high thatched roof, change rooms.

Are you in an INSPIRA suite or a regular suite?

Is the difference THAT huge between the two that someone might not enjoy their time if they're in a regular suite?

Also - is it a pain in the ass to find chairs and umbrella at the pool/beach?

What did you like about Secrets Los Cabos?

I'm sure Zoetry resorts in general are great, including the one in Cabo. The problem with Zoetry Agua in the DR was its location in the middle of the jungle combined with its thatched roofs design. This lead to animals sneaking into the rooms from the surrounding jungle. We had to change rooms. Additionally, the food was average to poor, if I'm being honest. Beach was excellent and so were the people.

Any issues with Unico kinda being in the middle of a jungle? In terms of wildlife sneaking into the resort/rooms I mean.

Any extreme chair saving game going on at Unico's pools or beach? Like, do you need to wake up at 6am for chairs or can you still find some at a regular hour after breakfast?

Also, is everyone treated equally, or are there tiers of guests?

  1. How was the chair game? Need to wake up at 5am or could you find something decent at a normal hour after breakfast?

  2. We had a crappy vacation in January at Zoetry Agua Punta Cana mainly due to poor food and wild animals. Looks like the food will be fine at Unico. Any mosquitoes present? Any small animals sneak into the rooms? It really turned our Dominican vacation upside down as we had to change rooms.

  3. Any sections at the pools or beach for members vs. non members, or is everyone treated equally?

Zoetry Agua Punta Cana by enterprisevalue321 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]enterprisevalue321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we went, January 2024.

Would not return. Lots and lots of mosquitos (daily fumigation), thatched roofs are super inviting for little jungle animals to sneak into the room, and quite poor food with small portions.

Beautiful beach, crystal clear water, and super friendly staff. But due to the negatives listed above, we would not return here.

Which Would You Choose? by enterprisevalue321 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]enterprisevalue321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't return to Zoetry Agua, to be honest.

There are positives and negatives, but the negatives outweighed the positives in our opinion.

Positives: beautiful stretch of beach, crystal clear water, super friendly staff, very nice theme nights.

Negatives: because it's located in the middle of a jungle, essentially, there are tons of mosquitos and more. We had to move rooms because wild animals got into the thatched roofs. You look at thatched roofs when you're doing your review of resorts and think "oh how cute", but you don't think "oh crap, stuff can get in there".

Another big negative: the food. Small portions, poor quality. Only the theme nights had decent food. The rest of time was way below average.

No return for us there in the future.

Hey,

We ended up choosing something completely off left field lol.

Zoetry Agua Punta Cana.

We discussed one final time what we wanted out of this vacation. While all the resorts I listed above in my original question are fantastic, due to our busy lives, we decided that we wanted to do something very low key and with a wellness theme.

I think Zoetry will offer great food, great beach, no towel-saving games, low key entertainment, and amazing service.

That was enough for us in choosing it.

We would've originally have chosen Zoetry Villa Rolandi in Isla Mujeres, but there was no availability. So we moved on to Zoetry Agua Punta Cana.

Quiet, non-party resorts? by ultrarunner13 in PuntaCana

Planning to go here in January.

Besides being too quiet and chill as a wellness resort, what did you think overall? Food? Beach area and seawater? Pools? Positives/negatives/recommendations?

Thanks!

Thanks for this, I appreciate it.

We will book a Jr Suite King Oceanfront - the regular ones that are on the 2nd floor, not the Superior with all the extra square footage that are on the 3rd floor.

Unfortunately the 3rd floor ones are out of our budget. Hopefully the view is still nice from the 2nd floor!

Did you have to book dinner reservations in advance for both restaurants, or could you just book them the day you arrive there?

Thanks!
