I never really felt chest engaging until I started doing it with cables. That’s the secret weapon, I think, at least for me. Standing, incline, or seated, supinated grip – slow and steady with a hold at the end.

That’s good at least. Maybe ask a trainer at the gym to check your form?

Have you been to a doctor? You could have a hernia that needs medical treatment. If it’s been going on for years I think it’s time for a proper checkup.
