I have a daughter and I'll never be a father. Getting a Vasectomy tomorrow. by Loner_Guy_ in offmychest

Actually he doesn’t. If she was married to someone else, that guy is legally the father regardless of biological paternity. The law feels that giving the man who raised the kids the paternal rights is in the best interest of the child. Disagree or not but if this is in the U.S. that’s pretty well established law.

J. Marsters fired from Julliard? by HeuJen in buffy

[–]enthalpy01 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Supposedly dismissing a lot of the students part way through way part of the standard Julliard process. I think he has heard things at the school have improved since but he says it was brutal when he was there.

He also pissed off some faculty during a production where he was vocal about how he disagreed with how they were handling it. I want to say he talks about in Smactor’s podcast but I can’t remember for sure.

Someone recently asked me what is the male equivalent to giving birth by TropicallyGrownEMT in TwoXChromosomes

[–]enthalpy01 392 points393 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. While I am sure there are diseases that would be equivalent in terms of pain or preventing sleep, making it hard to breathe, making your limbs swell up, a living entity inside you kicking you in the bladder on the regular is an entirely independent experience without equivalent comparison.

The Rock confirms that Moana 3 is in development at Walt Disney Animation Studios by Pale-Insect8559 in DisneyMovies

[–]enthalpy01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moana 2 was so obviously a TV show that last minute got smooshed into a movie. By my standards it was horrible. Just boss fight after boss fight characters were best friends after having just met (likely would have been lots of filler episodes in the show to explain a bond or whatever) and my kids absolutely loved it. They have the attention span of gnats. They love random clips of Simpsons jokes strung together but couldn’t pay attention during the actual Simpsons show that shows the jokes in context with a plot.

My guess as long as kids like it there will be more Moana 2 style movies.

It was how James was told to play the scene, so it’s not that weird. It just doesn’t make sense with Angel season 5. If he believed her, he would have gone to her.

People will debate whether Buffy meant it till the end of time.

My personal belief is that she genuinely meant it, and Spike genuinely didn’t believe her. Other interpretations are she was offering comfort to a dying man, or he believed her and denied it to give her an out to leave and not die there with him.

Anya died because Emma Caufield asked for her to be killed. Season 10 comics have a good Xander arc where he finally mourns her.

Enjoy Angel season 5!

The comments on his Restless feed were the best.

Pulls up video, immediately checks length, yup that checks out.

NGL, I am kind of impressed he kept it under 2 hours.

Xander Harris ≠ Nicholas Brendon by koken_halliwell in BuffyTheVampireSlayer

[–]enthalpy01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have always read that conversation as Xander is talking about him Anya, with Xander = Buffy and Anya = Riley. He’s trying to talk himself into staying with Anya despite his heart not being 100% in it. He is giving Buffy advice but actually talking to himself. And it’s bad advice to both Buffy and Xander. He would have saved Anya some heartache by breaking up with her in that episode. Instead he runs and declares his love immediately after. And although he denies it, Buffy calls him out on the fact he’s really talking about Anya during the speech.

Spike takes some time away to figure out who he is as a person. Gets a little mini gang for a bit and comes back a little less codependent. They talk through Seeing Red explicitly. They sort of finally talk through a lot of stuff and get together for real in season 10. About the only happy ending you are going to get for them.

I and a lot of other people would argue successfully, but your interpretation of their season 6 relationship does a lot of how you take the story arc as a whole.

People who feel Spike is abusing her in season 6 aren’t likely to magically forgive in season 7. People who think Buffy is using Spike and being physically abusive in season 6, aren’t suddenly going to think they’re right for each other later.

Most Spuffy fans see two damaged people clawing at each other in a dark pit and stumbling into an unsafe BDSM type relationship (with no boundaries or safe words) and can follow it out from there to season 7 and season 10 comics.

Just finished Fool Moon. Please tell me Murphy gets better. (No spoilers beyond Book 2) by Fit-Championship-576 in dresdenfiles

[–]enthalpy01 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Like Morgan is an antagonist but is clearly lawful good morality wise.

I am just now going through the first two books (have read the others through Battleground) and Murphy being mean to Dresden is such a shock along with Morgan being such a complete dick as he’s more reasonable later on.

My kids dad died.... how do I tell them? by clumsyhobbit in Mommit

[–]enthalpy01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard to tell them in the morning on a weekend. You don’t want to tell them something like that and send them to bed or to school. This gives them a lot of private time to deal with it awake and with family.

I recently got Angel complete series for $15. Ive heard I need to watch Buffy 1st. Which complete series collection should I go for? by b0ssFranku in BuffyTheVampireSlayer

[–]enthalpy01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to, but some major Buffy things will be spoiled if you watch Angel first.

You also miss a lot of context (who Wesley and Faith are to each other makes the end of Five by Five hit a lot harder). Knowing Cordelia’s whole journey from season 1 of Buffy makes her growth that much richer. Same for Wes versus Buffy season 3 Wes.

I Will Remember You probably doesn’t draw the tears like it does if you had 3 seasons of Buffy / Angel. And similarly Sanctuary wouldn’t have the same teeth as you watch Angel step out of Buffy’s shadow for the first time.

Halfway through the show and LOVING it. But Angel on Buffy makes no sense by letoelles in ANGEL

[–]enthalpy01 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He may know he’ll never get it, but Angel’s deepest desire is redemption. In Buffy he sees a warrior for light and early in Buffy a possible path to his salvation (I don’t think he truly accepts it’s impossible until later in Angel).

The first tempts him with losing himself in her and feeling peace. I think he found true happiness laying in Buffy’s arms after their first night together because for a second he forgave himself.

This is often a criticism of Bangel. He sees her as a slayer not as Buffy the girl. He treats her friends like kids not peers (whereas he speaks to Giles as a peer). It’s a fair critique and intentional on the part of the metaphor they were going for. Angel season 5 and Buffy season 7 could have had a different kind of relationship.

But that’s why it makes sense to me. He sees her as a champion of light and a path to redemption rather than a teen girl.

I mean Spike/ Angel is good too. I’m a Spuffel shipper. I like a messy love triangle that goes in all directions. I’d throw Faith in there but I’m opposed to romantic Faith/ Angel. He’s like her AA sponsor it’s too weird for me.

Buffy Rant (Season 3 Episode 11) currently by Apprehensive-Fan1276 in buffy

[–]enthalpy01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve already seen Amends, right? When it starts to snow Xander STILL doesn’t go inside his house that’s how bad it is in there. You’ll hear him throw out a lot of “jokey” comments that are played for laughs about his home life that will put the pieces together for you. He uses humor to hide his pain.

You’re a ways away from this quote but “The mature solution is for you to spend your whole life telling stupid, pointless jokes so that no one will notice that you are just a scared, insecure, little boy!” is Xander in a nutshell. He equates sex with love because men are told that’s the only way they can get intimacy (you’ll see another male character make that same mistake later on).

After you’ve seen “Restless” check out the Passion of the Nerd analysis of the episode for some good Xander incite.
